Co-Op Mutation #231: Blasting Off Again Posted: 21 Sep 2020 05:08 AM PDT Your enemies have activated the self-destruction sequence of their base as your armies corner them. Now you must prevent them from shipping their special cargo off-world while all manner of violent explosions and unexpected lava erupt all around you. ­ Map: Void Launch Going Nuclear Nukes are launched at random throughout the map. Lava Burst Lava periodically burst from the ground at random locations and deals damage to player air and ground units. Power Overwhelming All enemy units have energy and use random abilities. ­ Rating: Brutal +4 Video Replays on Brutal: Player 1                                   Player 2 [CtG(Lone Puppy Tychus)] Ancalagon (Architect of War Karax) [CtG(Lord of the Horde Stukov)] Galle (Mercenary Leader and Dominion Admiral Han and Horner) [CtG(Network Administrator Fenix)] Ancalagon (Signal Savant Stetmann) [CtG(Primal Pack Leader Dehaka)] Terribleness (Dominion Ghost Nova) ­ Notes: Abilities used by the enemy include Abduct, Black Hole, Defensive Matrix, Disabling Cloud, Disruption Web, Force Field, Fungal Growth, Guardian Shield, Graviton Beam, [Hybrid Structure Disable Thing], Irradiate, Parasitic Bomb, Point Defense Drone, Psionic Orb, Psionic Storm, Seeker Missile, Snipe, Time Warp. There is no means to determine what spells each enemy unit has until they actually use it. Dehaka does not get the psionic buff from devouring units, even though everyone s a spellcaster. The unit tag still takes precedence Mind controlling units will make them lose all their mutator buffs. The warning spot for Going Nuclear is the large targeting area. However, you only have 5 Blizzard seconds of warning before the nuke hits. The Lava Bursts appear all around your bases, but not in the mineral line. What a rush it is to play against other people Posted: 27 Sep 2020 11:32 PM PDT Now that I had both the time and PC to properly play this game, I finally got to play SC2 after a few years of only viewing pro play. After practicing against AI, I nervously played against other players And holy shit it is so tense. Every second is filled with the anxiety of what the fuck is my opponent doing, along with the anticipation for maxing out quicker than my opponent and a-moving across the map (cause that's the only thing I know what to do as Protoss lmao). I finally won against another person, and holy hell my heart is beating hard. Was it like this for all of you as well? Not all of his maps make the cut to be ladder maps, but a good number of them have. Most recently maps like Ever Dream, Deathaura, and Romanticide were all made by Marras. However, what I'd like to call attention to, is that a lot of Marras' maps are named after songs written by Finnish metal bands, including all three of the maps mentioned above. Marras is clearly a fan of Finnish metal, and I think naming maps after songs is a cool, subtle way to interact with both scenes. However, anyone that isn't familiar with the metal scene probably would never find out what inspired these maps' names unless someone told them, so I thought I would like to do just that.
