Starcraft Co-Op Mutation #193: By Fire Be Purged

Co-Op Mutation #193: By Fire Be Purged

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 01:08 PM PST

Flames engulf the battlefield both from above and below. Every inch outside your base is a maze of fire that must be trudged in order to destroy the enemy trains.

    Map: Oblivion Express

    Going Nuclear
Nukes are launched at random throughout the map.
    Lava Burst
Lava periodically burst from the ground at random locations and deals damage to player air and ground units.
    Scorched Earth
Enemy units set the terrain on fire upon death.

    Video Replays on Brutal:

    Player 1                                   Player 2
    [CtG (Karax)] Ancalagon (Vorazun)
    [CtG (Zagara)] Ancalagon (Zeratul)
    [CtG (Swann)] Ancalagon (Tychus)
    [CtG (Artanis)] Aommaster (Kerrigan)
[CtG (Dehaka)] Aommaster (Han and Horner)
    [CtG (Arcturus)] Aommaster (Fenix)
    [CtG (Nova)] 음란마귀 (Vorazun)
    [CtG (Stetmann)] Mazso (Raynor)

    Other Notes:

    • The warning spot for Going Nuclear is the large targeting area. However, you only have 5 Blizzard seconds of warning before the nuke hits.
    • The Lava Bursts appear all around your bases, but not in the mineral line. It is probably wise to build your expansion on-location.
    • Lava Bursts hit air units, like in Vermillion Problem.
    • The size of scorched earth depends on the supply count of the unit killed.
    • Air units are immune to Scorched Earth.

Is Starcraft 1 Still Worth Playing

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 03:22 PM PST

I've been playing Starcraft 2 lately and it's brought me to wonder if Starcraft 1 is worth playing despite its age. For reference I enjoy the Starcraft 2 campaign but also play a lot of versus games against the A.I. since I don't believe myself to be competent for pvp.

From WCS to EPT: Can we get an overview of the new system in comparison to the old?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 11:17 PM PST

I only follow this subreddit sporadically. I don't have the time to follow all the posts. Could we get a sticky or something that explains the differences between the old and the new system?

How are the tournaments different? Are the formats the same? How many tournaments are there? How does this affect the WCS Korean region lock, if at all?

What is the most fun army composition match up for you to play in SC2?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 02:35 PM PST

Curious to know what you guys think. To be clear, I don't mean what is the easiest one for you to play that you usually win with i.e storm collosi chargelot vs pure bio. I mean the one you find the most enjoyable, even if you lose often.

For me right now as a low Diamond toss player, I really enjoy playing chargelot immo storm disruptor vs hydra ling lurker. The game dynamics just are really fun to me right now, having to use an oracle to keep track of the lurkers, not being able to just A move over his lurkers and having to use disruptors to push him back. The micro is challenging having to use storm and sentry forcefields on the hydra ling, and using disruptors against lurker siege positions that I can't let him have. Also having my army split across my outer bases and keeping at least 1 HT with storm at every base in case of ling runbys. It's difficult and oh so rewarding to win these games because I used to get crushed by hydra lurker nearly every time.

I just like those games the most right now and decided to share and am curious to know what others find most fun to play as far as army composition matchups.

    Thanks
