    New to SC2... Help!

    Hi all,

    I know I am (very) late to the party, but I have always loved strategy games and just got a PC... I have started playing a few games of SC2 (the training missions so far), and I am struggling with just how MUCH there is to learn. I have tried seeking help with YouTube guides and so on, but I am not having much luck there either.

    If anyone could recommend a good couple of things to watch on YouTube or do in game that helped you early on, I would appreciate it.

    I am primarily struggling with understanding the following.

    What makes a person GOOD at SC2? I don't see how there is much room for counter-play/out thinking your opponent. So far it just feels like a build fiesta to me. I would love to get a deeper understanding of the things I should be trying to do.

    Which race caters the most toward new players/is the most straightforward? In contrast, is there one that has more depth than the others?

    What should I be doing in game to make sure I am improving?

    Any answers to these questions or any general advice would be super helpful. Thank you!

    Being a Starcraft 2 fan from 2011, I have seen the scene rise, fall, and now steadily rise again. In my country, while there has been an increase of players there really isn't anything for the local players. Hence, I am organizing and putting for some resources in order to do what I can to grow the scene.

    Last Saturday was the group stage, with a range of players both playing and casting, this follow Saturday will be the semis and finals. As well as some great games, we are organizing a Live, in person, viewing party! Clarification, this is not an offline LAN event , but we will be casting from a location and there will be space for fans to hang out, chat and connect.

    I am only 4500 MMR with protoss , and 4200 mmr with Terran. Played that barcode, first with terran, and matched him again with my protoss once more. https://i.gyazo.com/932ba5660a91f94dea53c8455bfa218b.png this is his profile , sure, he beat me, i lost like 25 points, because he intentionally lowered his unranked MMR, to meet people like me, and he lowered his other ranked races, to meet people like me. Sure thing, but how its possible that he win trading on GM?

    Why doesn't blizzard make significantly smaller maps?

    I remember in WoL days, there were quite a few smaller maps like Ohana which I loved.

    Now I understand in LOTV we start off with more workers which leads to a faster economy. Naturally the maps would be bigger to even out the bigger starting economy.

    But every damn map in LOTV has now is big. I feel like early game doesn't exist at all unless you proxy cheese. And mid game is only there to set up late game.

    I feel like every LOTV map now is essentially the same big map just slightly different colors which makes the game boring fairly quickly.

    My honest question is: Why don't they just create smaller maps? Having a map like Ohana would be clutch as fuck in my opinion.
