Maru is soo fun to watch

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 02:18 PM PST

It's like watching Flash playing Broodwar, Maru is just soo fun to watch. Serral is strong, but he is boring to watch.

Let's not talk about whether "that thing" is finally happening or not until it happens.

You know what it is. We all want it but it never happens. Let's stop mentioning it. Ignore it. How are you doing today?

For me the most impressive thing about Maru today...

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 12:14 PM PST

...was how he held sOs' MaxPax in game 2 (3?). That was cazy, how he juggled the scvs around and then pulled the workers... he played like a zerg defending a bunker rush, I've never seen a terran do that before.

Not to speak of the ebay wall at the end.

Serral vs Innovation. What is was ? Can you explain to me, please ?

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 02:41 PM PST

[Sorry for my english, i am not native speaker :) ]

For me at the moment this is the main disappointment of the tournament. I mean, the game looked like one-way street. Like serral played vs opponent of a fundamentally different level.

    BUT

    1) Less than a year ago, they met in the finals of WESG. It was epic tough two-hour (!) fight, which ended 4:3 in favor of Innovation. You can say "it was a long time ago". Ok, another example : half year ago they met again on King's Cove, Serral won, but it was 30-minute equal confrontation, where advantage passed from one to another.

Question: What has changed so much since then? Innovation ? No, he is very stable. Serral ? Yes, he is certainly very cool player, but he is unlikely to have become a god in 5 months.

    2) Innovation buildorder. What the hell is he playing 3 base allin from game to game? Moreover, he played something very similar in first game against Solar, it absolutely did not work. But once again he played the same against Serral, and then again. WHY ??!! Why is this played by a man who has shown all last year that even in the lategame he can destroy top zergs ?

And I didn't notice that the meta has changed much since then. On the contrary, the zerg were slightly nerfed, and the terrans were slightly buffered.

    -------------------------

PS I noticed that they like to detect the so-called "terran whiners" here. I'll say right away that I'm convinced representative, but the post is not about that at all, so get it right. Thanks !

Petition to make IEM Semifinals Bo7 and Finals Bo9 or Bo7

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 02:17 AM PST

Anyone else of the same opinion? For comparison, a physical 1v1 sport such as tennis has matches of approximately 2 hours each. If we assume StarCraft has 15 minutes game time and 5 minutes break per game (average including cheese games and long games) for a total of 20 minutes per game, that makes 6 games in 2 hours. Bo7 games have a range of 4-7 games (average 5.5) while Bo5 have a range of only 3-5 games (average 4). So a Bo7 fits closer with conventional sports such as Tennis in terms of game time. Importantly it also means less chance of the 'worse' player winning, and opens the door for more come backs being possible. I saw others in chat had a similar view and was wondering what /r/sc thinks.
