    Missing Geoff

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 07:32 PM PST

I just wanted to link the Blizzcon intro with the tribute to INcontrol. I'm finally working my way through the vods as I was busy during the Global Finals this year, and I both laughed out loud and cried during the tribute to Geoff. Miss him every time I boot up a stream.

Just wanted to give Maynarde some props, any game he's casting you hear the excitement and passion in his voice, which makes it more exciting from a viewing stand point.

    Keep doing you man! 👍🏻

Terran Support Group: IEM edition (lighthearted satire)

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 03:55 PM PST

It's every Terran fan's favourite time of tournament: when we get an explanation from P and Z players why Terran is underrepresented in the Ro8/Ro12 of yet another premier offline tournament.

First off, make no mistake: it has never and will never be because of balance/difficulty of the race, so get that out of your head right now! You don't want to be labeled a Terran whiner! Sure Terran players are lucky if they get 1 or 2 players into the Ro8 of any premier tourney in the last few years (it's actually become the norm now) but it has nothing to do with balance! Our P and Z brothers and sisters have been kind enough to provide us with the reasons Terran is underrepresented in the final stage of almost every premier tournament over the last couple of years. And believe me, it's not balance, so drop it already!

    1. We're letting the meta settle. An oldie but a goodie! With every patch, things change. Which allows for about 3-4 months of "letting the meta settle" as a very good reason why Terran get outnumbered in the final stages of the premier tournament!

    2. You can't judge balance based on one tournament! Sure, this excuse becomes weaker as more and more premier tournaments end with Terran underperformance, but we're sticking to it dammit! Each tournament is its own entity, and can't be compared to the other X amount of premier tournaments where Terran underperformed, no matter how many times in a row it happens!

    3. Terran players just didn't play well! Everyone knows that Terran players are lazy and don't practise as much as the other two races. TY has been quoted as saying, "Fuck practise, I am GOD!" on more than one occasion, and honestly, not qualifying for the round of 12 is a just punishment! Also, P and Z players just make less mistakes than their Terran counterparts. There's a reason Z and P are overrepresented in the final stages of premier tournaments and it's because they always play better than Terran! Duh.

    4. Maru won 4 GSLs at one point. That is all. Terran is fine because of this.

So no matter what Terran whiners tell you, just know that the game is 100% balanced with no need for change! Be thankful that 1 or 2 Terrans are usually able to squeak into the Ro8, and feel blessed with the reasons given by our Protoss and Zerg brethren. Remember, it can never ever possibly be balance. And if you find yourself asking, "Imagine one time it's Terran that has 5 players in the round of 8?" DON'T. Just don't. Accept your fate.

Shoutout to the IEM Katowice Cutters

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 01:12 PM PST

Huge shoutout to the IEM Katowice video cutters! The short summary video clips at the end of the day are extremely well put together and very fun to watch. Great work putting the cinematics in context with the days matches and throwing in the quirky moments between casters and players.

While having a lot of great games i always look forward to the end of the day to watch this short video clips. Great job!

    Maru Played Well Today

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 07:30 AM PST

I see a lot of people blaming Maru's win on this or that but it really comes down to that his gameplay quality is up to his usual standards. He's been making a lot of high effort moves that he usually does, even compared to his qualifying games. He could be memeing, or trolling, or whatever, he is simply playing up to his usual standard. So if anyone wants to cry unfair moderation, these games are the hill to die on. His opponents deployed unoriginal low quality gameplay and he didn't.

Why does maximum wins count higher than win loss ratio?

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 12:58 PM PST

So Hurricane got seeded over TY to get out of the group because he has one more win. Why isnt win/loss ration more important? TY also lost one less game than Hurricane. Doesnt make that more sense? 6/5 > 7/6. It doesnt have to change in this ESL, but maybe an idea for the next tournament??
