Enhanced Replay Pack for StayAtHomestory Cup #1

    Posted: 14 Apr 2020 05:17 PM PDT

    Hi reddit,

I've just finished massaging this fresh replay pack for all of us to properly enjoy.

Replay files are now preceded with the date/time they have been played (hence sorting by name gets you the series to watch in proper order) and also include the players names. Also the matchup annotation is there in the name and properly done so you'll only see PvT and never TvP for example. A few cleanups here and there as well like removing non-ASCII characters from filenames.

    Enjoy and GLHF!

A request to fellow angry players: We can do better.

    Posted: 14 Apr 2020 03:31 AM PDT

Greetings everyone. I'm a BMer and a balance whine connoisseur. I'm not proud of it. I'm actually quite ashamed of it whenever I manage to get my head cleared off the tilt caused by the ladder.

I'm making this post because, for whatever reason, it feels like the toxicity on ranked ladder has increased from funny to obnoxious levels and also my personal saltiness has risen lately. As a part of the problem, I can't judge anybody, but I think me and by fellow ragers can get better.

On balance: I've seen a lot of balance concerns on reddit lately and I'm sure a lot of it is valid BUT let's be real, a lot of the most passionate discussion has nothing to do with the pro scene but instead people are venting on the forum because they got beaten on the ladder. I've been a zerg player since WoL and in my brain protoss has always been imba no matter the patch. The reality is that even though Mmr-wise I'm in the top 1-3%, I'm still doing so many mistakes that no realistic update could fix my ZvP winrate. Remember broodlords a couple patches ago? I beat some terrans clearly in the midgame but had to tech to broods to finish the game. Do you think those players blamed their mistakes in the midgame for the loss or the imba broodlords? You guessed right.

Personally I don't care about balance whine on ladder that much, but when you think somebody is a second class citizen because they play a certain race, it tends to manifest in ugly ways.

Role of the streamers in making a better community: When a 6.5k+ mmr terran player says that queens air range is overpowered, I don't have much of an authority to disagree but I'm 100% certain that some d3 terran who was watching is going to quote you when they shift click their liberator on top of a spore crawler, so please try to remind your viewers that balance is not their concern.

To finish, here's some tips for the other hotheaded, or as I like to call them, passionate players.

    1. Breaks between games: When you have a painful loss and queue instantly for the next game, you are just going to build up the rage, so first watch a funny cat compilation or something.
    2. Watch a good players stream: As a Zerg, I like to watch Lambo. I like his playstyle and he is very honest about his mistakes which is a good combination of inspiring and humbling.
    3. Sometimes you just gotta stop: After getting rekt by a cannon rush 5 times in a row, nothing good is going to follow so unless you are forced to play at a gunpoint, it's time to stop.
    4. No, your opponent doesn't look like kachinsky and no, they don't have a barcode tattooed to the back of their head: Your opponent is most likely a nice person with similar interest as you have.

Shoutout to Lowko and Neuro, They are roughly my level but keep it together much better. Lowko has the same bug as me where Carriers get double damage against zerg but I haven't seen him punch his table once when playing against them.

tl;dr Try to be nicer to other players.

Can someone please explain to me how Serral injects 4 bases in less than 1 second? (replay in post)

    Posted: 14 Apr 2020 09:42 PM PDT

So I am watching replays from Stay at HomeStory Cup, Serral vs Innovation on Night Shade replay here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1yWt7MdmUr2M7Z_6vMJXFafgIG2FEsacX

At 7:32, Serral sees at his natural that an inject is just about to pop. IN ONE SECOND, by 7:33, he has already injected all his hatcheries. How does he do this?

So far, after watching on the slowest mode for 10 times:

    • I do know about the base-camera-space-bar trick, which I know he is not using because if you follow is camera, it does not go to his macro hatch which does not have a queen at.
    • I know he hotkeys his inject queens together, separately from his creep-defense queens.
    • Does he just use camera keys? If so what would be the sequence of key presses?

    Genuinely interested. Thanks

    Hi All,

I've been playing Starcraft for over 20 years (casually)!

In this time I would be lucky to have played more than 10 games in a race other than Protoss. Why? I don't know... I started with Protoss and this will never change.

    What about you?

Can we please get banelings looked at? They benefit from physical melee attack upgrades, getting +5 dmg per teir vs. buildings, but they also count as 'spell' dmg and completely ignore building armour... making the Terran Building Armor upgrade completely useless.
