Player cam appreciation for EPT/DH Masters Fall Posted: 19 Sep 2020 08:06 PM PDT Shout out to the production and players for airing player cameras to make matches feel more engaging to the audience! Really shows how invested the players are in the results and how intense these matches get. No substitute for stage and audience, but it helps connect! For me, it's always a treat seeing Reynor's happy attitude and Serral's personality coming through in these intense matches. [link] [comments]

Posted: 19 Sep 2020 09:16 PM PDT Tomorrow (USA time) September 20th, is the 10th anniversary of Day[9]'s Funday Mondays. It is what got me way more interested in StarCraft 2 multiplayer, and it was a great way to introduce folks into a game that is normally a little daunting. I compiled a list of all the Funday Mondays (and their original Air Date) as part of a challenge to myself to run through them all this week. I also have added notes for some, like 6 pool challenge (probably don't want to kill off half your workers). You can find the list HERE I'm not sure how many of you remember or care, but I'm hoping to run into a few folks tomorrow asking if people know "what day it is" and/or other random hijinx! Happy "Dicking Around"! [link] [comments]

Posted: 19 Sep 2020 02:50 PM PDT Decided to check what did Serral queen use to get a speed boost in this clip here: https://clips.twitch.tv/EnchantingPlayfulHummingbirdLitty After playing around for a minute in unit tester, hatcheries leave creep when placed, like when you see in proxy hatch blocks into evos, I discovered that queens in fact benefit from the creep from the hatchery as an unfinished building but only near the corners probably because queens are so big (and the building is the biggest in the game so the corners are bigger) they actually step into it while technically there shouldn't be any creep there. Also the creep is invisible in the clip because of the terrain behind the hatch on this map. Corner queen speed boost shown here: https://gfycat.com/pl/gregariousvigoroushoiho Conclusion: nerf zerg. How do you anticipate that pro's tactics will evolve in a year or two? Posted: 19 Sep 2020 06:28 PM PDT With each passing year/season, we see the level of play go up and up, both mechanically, strategically, and tactically. Talking specifically about tactics, we see things like reaper bounching retreating enemy units back, hellions targeting their own reaper to kill creep tumors, DTs being used as spotters to prioritize robo unit production, etc etc. These are just some of the cool little tactics I've seen for the first time recently, or becoming more and more common/necessary. Just for fun, here are some of my guesses to how the pro's play as a whole will improve in the future: Terran: Better add-on switching to incorporate both mines and tanks versus Zerg, and to not take so long getting another raven up vs Protoss when their first one dies. Widow mines intercepting rally points and worker retreat routes from a drop. Better repair on key factory units. Preserving the early game hellions better to morph to hellbats in the mid-late game to deny runbys/protect tanks (focusing more on denying creep than killing drones/creative reaper grenade micro to save them). Hunting the first overlord better. Zerg: Creep spread is the big thing here, using your pushing overlord line to spit creep and spread that creep faster. Many zergs also only spread creep once per inject cycle, while you can do it twice. Using burrowed banelings as spotters and potential big hits. Using evo chambers to sim city and mess with zealot runby AI (and using these for viper energy instead of hatches/spores). Hold position lurkers. Hidden banelings in the weeds in ZvZ. Overseers stacked with vipers to make feedbacks harder. Nydus every lategame for quicker positioning. Protoss: Having a sentry with glaives builds micro'd with the warp prism. Always making sure guardian shield is up. Having two prisms instead of just one in the mid-late game. Clearing creep better with small groups of adepts and a prism instead of the whole army. Mid-fight flanking disruptor drops on Terran's tanks. Pylons as vision and warp-in points all over the map versus Terran and Protoss. Hallucinated units just before a fight much more often to try and tank some damage on your more key units. Of course many things here are big APM taxes, but I think as pro players get better, we'll start seeing them get faster, and more efficient in their play. What other tactical improvements do you anticipate in the future of Starcraft 2? [link] [comments]

How To Defend Against Tank Pushes? Posted: 19 Sep 2020 09:42 PM PDT I was doing a PvT. My opponent pushed around the 7 min mark with 5 tanks or so, marines + medivacs. I had an observer follow his army so I knew when they were coming. I decided to try to cut his army off before they reached my base. However, once I engaged my opponent simply sieged his tanks and my army got wrecked. How do you defend this? I didn't want to wait for his army to come to the front of my base and siege up, yet engaging him before he got there turned out horribly as well. I had researched blink before he started his push but it didn't finish by the time I engaged. It was also too late to start a stargate, and I'm not sure how effective sg units are against stimmed bio. [link] [comments]

Wanting to get back to ladder but my MMR is higher than my skill level. Posted: 20 Sep 2020 12:45 AM PDT I am supposedly a plat Protoss but the last time I actually played ladder was back when the msc was first removed. After that I've been watching all major and most minor tournaments, but never played any games myself (other than coop which, for reference, made me bind the all army hot key to the space bar, so you know how the situation currently is). I have the macro of a bronze player, decision making of a silver player and micro of a gold player with the mmr of a plat player since that's were I left off. For my placement match, I insta left the game so that I could lower my mmr but it still points to plat which makes me afraid that I'll just get thrashed every time I queue up. I forget my second pylon, I don't even know how to follow build orders, and the list of deficiencies goes on. I want to know from you guys, what should I do to dampen the incoming losing streak so that I don't lose motivation and end up quitting. [link] [comments]
Am I supposed to like/feel sorry for Kerrigan Posted: 20 Sep 2020 12:44 AM PDT So I'm playing through Heart of the Swarm and I've really come to hate Kerrigan. She always picks the sociopathic murder option and just comes across as someone with no redeeming qualities. Warfield was right, how many billions of innocent people is she gonna kill just for killing Mengsk only. I just really hate her. Is this the point or is the writing just shitty. [link] [comments] |
