Co-Op Mutation #230: Of One Mind

    Posted: 14 Sep 2020 04:19 AM PDT

With limited supplies, you and your ally must share the available supply on the field, as well as control of the boom bot defusion device. Being on the same page as your ally is no longer enough; you need to be on the same letter.

    Map: Rifts to Korhal

    Boom Bots
Uncaring automatons carry a nuclear payload toward your base. One player must discern the disarming sequence and the other player must enter it.
    Polarity
Each enemy unit is immune to either your units or your ally's units.
    Sharing is Caring
Supply is shared between you and your partner, and units from both armies contribute to your combined supply cap.

    Notes:

    • Boom bots are untargetable units that walk toward the players, and detonate a nuke upon contact. They will survive the blast and keep walking until they are defused.
    • Each boom bot has a [4-digit code] that only one player can see. However, it is only the other player who can enter this code [through the command card or by using number keys], to defuse the boom bot.
    • The boom bots are [visible from the minimap], and spawn from enemy structures.
    • Boom bots aggro to your buildings. They "see" your initial buildings, so if you destroy your initial buildings and don't let them see any more of your buildings, it will not move toward your base.
    • Half of every single attack wave and every base is immune to you or your ally. This means you cannot split between separate attack waves; both need to attack the same location simultaneously.
    • Enemies with the red shield are immune to your attacks. Another way to figure out which units are yours before engaging is to mouse over the enemy unit:
    • Immobilization Wave, Time Stop, and other movement/attack restricting spells still work on enemy units immune to you, but they deal 0 damage.
    • You can manually target the enemy units immune to you, but it will do 0 damage.
    • [The actual supply of both commanders are added. However, the supply limit is still individual for each commander]. This means each player keeps the original supply cap, but must now accommodate both their supply and their ally's.
    • Commanders with 100 supply cap retain the 100 supply cap. They will NOT be able to produce any supply-consuming units if their ally goes above 100 supply, for as long as the ally is over 100 supply.
    • Commanders with instant max supply perks like Artanis and Dehaka retain their perks.

Nathanias' balance whining during one of the biggest tournaments of the year is unacceptable.

    Posted: 18 Sep 2020 10:22 AM PDT

Seriously, it's such a huge turn off. I never thought the casting could ruin an event for me but nathanias is managing it.

    Astrea's Korean (language) skills

    Posted: 18 Sep 2020 11:49 PM PDT

Not sure if this has been brought up before but can we please acknowledge how impressive Astrea's Korean language skills are. He moved to KR about a year ago and had to leave cuz of Covid almost half a year ago so after a little over half a year he got so good at Korean that he does the translations now. Looking at Special, Scarlett, NoRegret, and especially Artosis and Tasteless that have lived in KR for over 10 years and are still just conversational, Astrea's progression is insane. I guess it's about being willing to really learn Korean but still huge props to Astrea!

I got trolled into Harstems most recent ”Is it imba or do I suck” without my acknowledge.

    Posted: 18 Sep 2020 04:02 PM PDT

Hello all, if you are active on r/starcraft I think you will most likely recognize my name. I have been a big fan of SC2 esport for a very long time and I play it from time to time as well and I love it, love our esport scene and all of that and I have big respect for Harstem. But I honestly feel kind of disappointed in him. I will explain my situation.

Some days/week ago, I was on a losing streak on the ladder and wanted to take one more game before I had to go. I faced off versus a zerg that was 500-600 mmr above me(I always get pretty hyped when I play players that have higher mmr than me), unfortunately, the game went pure shit and I also did a bm comment towards the end of the match. "zerg really is broken" that was of course very childish but I did apologize to him directly after the match and also told him that his win was well deserved (of course it was, he completely outplayed me with his unit control).

So, what happens next? A couple of days or maybe a week later. I queued up on the ladder and the guy told me that he recognized my name from Harstems youtube "Is it IMBA or do I suck". So I of course checked it out directly after the match. I will have to admit the video was actually kind of fun, also his comments were actually helpful for my future gameplay. Even though you don't have to be a genius to see that I did wrong there.

The problem is that it was the Zerg player that sent this to Harstem pretending to be me and then wrote the most pathetic "Imbalance Complain" comment. Like for real does that not ring any bells right there that it was like the biggest meme?

But of course, Harstem presents it to his viewers that it was I that wrote it.

I understand Harstems concept of "Is it imba or do I suck" and it´s very funny, but only if the player that submit it to Harstem also is verified of Harstem. For him to verify that would be as simple to just write to Harstem in Starcraft 2 from that account or similar.

TLDR: My opponent pretending to be me and sent it to Harstems "Is it imba or do I suck" and now it is a YouTube video of it with thousands of viewers. The player pretending to be me also made me look that I was super bad-mannered.

Wings of Liberty campaign was the most fun I've had in years

    Posted: 18 Sep 2020 12:39 PM PDT

With lots of free time during quarantine I saw WOL is now free so I downloaded it and played through the story. I had very modest expectations because of how much people hate on SC2, but it was the most fun I've had in years. It was exactly the StarCraft I remember from my childhood and the more immersive Terran world was just how I imagined it in middle school.

I will admit, the ending not the best though. Is it worth playing Heart of the Swarm? Or should I stop here and let this be my mind canon?

    New Player progression

    Posted: 18 Sep 2020 06:18 PM PDT

Recently started SC2 because I thought the game looked amazing and I never got a chance for a true strategy game, currently doing campaign and I have to wonder when am I allowed (can do without getting flamed or rolled) pvp, should I focus on playing bots as I've noticed some other people recommend?

why wasn't Kerrigan afraid of the "second overmind" in Episode VI mission 5 & 6 ?

    Posted: 19 Sep 2020 01:05 AM PDT

early on in VI we learn that Kerrigan think the "second overmind" may be able to take control of her when it grows up, just like the first overmind had control of her, and she didn't want that to happen, skip to mission 4 and the UED is defeated on Korhal, now for some reason, she decides to... attack her allies? why? at this point, shouldn't she be way more afraid that the second overmind was growing powerful enough to take control of her, and prioritize killing the overmind, instead of attacking friendlies? it would be CATASTROPHIC for Kerrigan if the overmind grew powerful enough to take control of her, while she was wasting time defeating her "allies", would it not? i really don't understand her priorities at this point, can someone explain this sheet?
