/r/starcraft Rules Updates and Discussion Posted: 21 Feb 2020 11:25 AM PST Hello /r/starcraft, As you're all probably aware there have been some issues regarding the consistency of post moderation particularly when it comes to the removal of meme and other such fluff posts. The moderator team has spent some time discussing our goals in regards to post moderation, the complaints we have received as well as how to best convey/explain the decisions we agreed upon. As a result of this discussion we have reviewed and updated the subreddit's quality rules adding clarifications on how memes, fluff content, and the like will be evaluated. In particular we have created an infographic to provide a visual aid to help people better visualize and understand what our goals are we created this infographic: https://i.imgur.com/7IXpg60.png There is an expectation of a certain level of effort and quality with ANY content posted on this subreddit. The medium in which you choose to post your content, regardless of what it is, is subject to our quality rules and will be removed if it is deemed low quality. Does my post have to explicitly include a starcraft IMAGE in it? No. We changed that rule last year and we are sticking to it. We find that good content can come through in a lot of different forms and just having some sort of image from the game does not necessarily constitute high quality. What this means is, if your submission happens to be a good comic, or video that is directly related to starcraft but does not necessarily have a starcraft image in it, it is not subject to removal based on that. We do expect all posts and submissions to actually have a direct reference to Starcraft though. Where this rule can get confusing and problematic: When we do not require starcraft images in a post, that automatically opens up avenues for people to post what is defined as a "meme" or an "image macro". A meme has a very specific definition and we are specifically referring to memes as a template form for submitting content. A Meme is NOT necessarily any content you created for fluff purposes. A "Meme" IS content that uses a very popular, very overused preset template. What is an overused meme template exactly? Surprised Pikachu face, drake hotline bling, butterfly guy, awkward penguin, slowpoke, lady screaming at a cat, the rock driving. Those SPECIFICALLY are posts we will remove. Those are what technically is defined as "memes" but I know many people also consider memes as any type of amusing submission. Amusing submissions are subject to whether they are low quality or not, otherwise, they are allowed to be posted as long as they are not some sort of premade template meme or image macro. Everything else aside from NSFW content is fair game. Comics, something you created, put together, drawing etc... is fair game as long as it is not low-quality content and as long as it is not a premade template meme or image macro. Again, if you are not sure, the infographic is a really good visual aid and you are all more than welcome to just ask us via modmail: https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2Fstarcraft [link] [comments]

Which is the best race to play when drinking Posted: 21 Feb 2020 02:10 PM PST Hi Starcraft, long time lurker, first time poster. I have a serious question to ask. This weekend, it looks as though I will have some free time and freedom from my responsibilities. So I plan to fire up SC2 and get a little silly. My question for the experts in the room is, if I intend to have a few drinks, is there a particular race that best suits this state of mind? I main random these days, and don't really want to sacrifice my mmrs, but for the purpose of this weekend I'm fine running any other race into the ground. Apologies to the mod group if this is not an appropriate place for this discussion, kindly let me know a more suitable forum. I am looking for serious discussion on the merits of playing each race while under the influence. Also strategy suggestions appreciated. I've only really tried Zerg while drinking and tbh I found it pretty tough but I was also going tryhard mode instead of just having fun. [link] [comments]
