If you look at the Homestory cup Matcherino page it jumped up to over 30k in the last couple of days mostly thanks to this major contribution by her. Lets thank her for all she did for SC2 in the Past and now, really great to still being pasionate past of SC2 being her job. :)

People like her are what makes SC2 stand out from the rest of the Bunch. :)And her doing it with out making it public makes it even more wholesome.

But also thanks alot to all of you guys out there who also sponsored it, really like to be playing and watching and fighting for the scene together with all of you. :) We are great ;)

Has anyone encountered this? At first I thought it was hilarious, but then realized the only thing I can access is the missions. I'm playing on Linux Mint, Wine Staging through Lutris. Everything was running smooth until this happened.

BSL triple the prize pool to 10,000 dollars for the next 3 seasons with 2 new sponsors

After 8 years of organizing StarCraft tournaments, this will be my last Dutch StarCraft League. Unfortunately its prize pool is currently quite underfunded - will you help me one last time?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 07:17 AM PST

    Hello fellow travellers,

After 8 years of hosting StarCraft tournaments, starting with a student tournament on my university in 2011, followed by 7 years of events for the Dutch StarCraft League, I'm stepping down. Since my life as a PhD ended, multiple 'real' jobs have taken away the time I need to run the DSCL properly. I'm hoping to find a successor to keep the DSCL going, but after this year's edition of the DSCL Nationals I'm out. I'll let the Dutch E-sports Foundation continue, and if I get the chance I'll sporadically show up as an admin at WESG/WCS-events, but unfortunately I'll have to say goodbye to my main #passionproject :(.

All that said: I'm looking forward to one last awesome edition of the Dutch StarCraft League. We've been hosting qualifiers (tomorrow's the last one), and on December 15th the finals will be played in the Esports Game Arena in Alphen aan den Rijn. Everyone is welcome to come visit (entry is free), and we'll stream the finals on Twitch.tv/DSCLeague as always. We're all set, except...

...the prize pool is still woefully underfunded :(. Currently it's only about ~€210. I haven't had the time to engage in sponsor acquisition, so I'm forced to rely on community support. I'd be very grateful if any of you here would like to help me give this DSCL the prize pool worthy of its awesome players. The Dutch community has gotten somewhat small, but our players are dedicated. If you want to help, you can donate in the following ways:

100% of all donations will be added to the prize pool and distributed to the players immediately after the event.

In general: I'll keep following the community and will definitely stay subscribed to this sub :). Thank you all for your wonderful input and support for the DSCL all these years. I can honestly say that if it wasn't for this sub's boundless enthusiasm, and the way in which the first editions of the DSCL got exposure here, many of the wonderful things I experienced these past years would not have happened. Thank you all!

    Mr. Bitter Appreciation Thread

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 07:31 PM PST

Being a Starcraft fan since 2010, it was such a treat to hear Mr. Bitter cast HomeStory Cup 20. I was smiling ear to ear hearing references to the past and his genuine questions figuring out how the game has changed. Not only a great personality, I think many of his questions also helped new viewers understand what was going on. Hope to hear him more in the future!

I was skeptical about Mengsk being a co-op commander, but his artillery guns are a fun option

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 09:57 PM PST

Building about 12 cannons out in the field and filling them with conscripts lets you flatten just about anything. I just did this to kill a Void Sliver on Scythe of Amon.

Reminds me so much of howitzer spamming in Company of Heroes 2. So much fun when you direct several guns and take out someone who's blobbing (spamming infantry).

Thanks for making this possible, Blizzard. Just wish the artillery shell blasts had a bit more visual "oomph" to them. Just look at how CoH2 does them.

Now if only Zagara's Bile Launchers could do stuff like this...

Broodwar remastered- how do you make the scout shots look smaller (without going back to regular old graphics)? In UMS maps with alot of scouts, it just becomes a cluster-f of gigantic blue balls and it becomes hard to see anything.

Let us choose the meme of the year!

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 09:50 AM PST

So, since it's December already and we're drawing close to the year changing, I figured we could start up a little bit of an community awards season, just for shits and giggles. In keeping with the shits and giggles, I figured we'd begin by getting the train going for THE MEME OF THE YEAR. Here's how I figure we go about this:

    1. Nominations phase

Nominate your favourite Starcraft meme, from someone else than yourself, from the year up until now by linking to it in the comments. You may nominate more than one as long as you do so with separate comments. Shower your favourite nominations with upvotes.

    2. Voting phase

On the 15th of December, I'll throw a poll up with the 10 most upvoted nominees so you guys get to vote on which of them was this year's meme of memes. I'll close the poll on the 22nd.

    3. Winner announcement

After the polls close on the 22nd, I'll announce the winner, who will win absolutely nothing beyond the title of RESIDENT MEMELORD and the bragging rights of being such a meme master.

    ------------

Simple, right? Well then, get on nominating!

Feel free to also make any suggestions of your own for additional awards, rules etc.

    LET THE SILLINESS ENSUE!

Edit1: I have revised the "rules" of this and allowed more than one nomination per person.

    Starcraft 1 Warcraft 3 mod in 2019!!

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 05:50 AM PST

Have you guys ever heard about the old Warcraft 3 total conversion mod in Starcraft:Broodwar? It only existed in the early 2000s until it's brutally DMCA-d by Blizzard lol. I didnt really notice it until i read some topic about it from 3, 4 years ago. Here's a picture of it if you guys need a reminder: https://imgur.com/RayWzCM

Anyway, I tried very hard to recover and make it playable, not because the mod was great, it was actually unbalanced af and it didnt even look like WC3 lol. Its just because it was an unforgettable part of my childhood. So here are the detailed instruction for anyone interested in bringing the good old days. I dont know if this post gonna put me in trouble or it is helpful at all lol I just wanna share it to you guys.

+ The first thing we need is the mod itself, you guys can download it here: http://www.gameproc.com/meskstuff/wc3tc.zip. Apparently they dropped while working on the 2.2 version which is the newest one and its still buggy as hell lol.

+ Second thing is the compatible Starcraft version (the new ones do not support the mod anymore). Luckily I found a multi-version setup here: http://www.staredit.net/topic/17625/ Download the full version, install and switch to 1.07. This is not the best download you can get and all the maps are corrupted (you can download map manually) but it is still usable.

+ Extract the mod in the Starcraft folder and rename Wc3tcPatch_rt.mpq to Patch_rt.mpq.

+Run w3tc or w3tcV2_2.exe. I suggest using the old version because the new one is more buggy. Things worked for me here but you guys might have to setup virtual machine with Windows 98 or something if things get ugly lol. Anyway, it is proved that this sh*t is still more alive than ever in 2019!

And that's it, tell me if you have any problem, have a nice day!

Odd question, when do you think we will see SpeCial cast again?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 06:43 AM PST

His casting was one of the highlights of HSC for me. I get that he's probably too good of a progamer to give it up and move into content creation/casting. It feels weird to have had him in our community for such a long time and have his skills wasted. I want to listen to him talk about starcraft more often. He is funny, he works well with other casters, has a ton to say about everything, he's very opinionated, and very insightful when it comes to the topmost tier of sc2 play.

I'd love to see /u/Artosis or /u/Noregret_ involve him in some type of content creation, maybe invite him for a couple episodes of in-depth or maybe start a new series.

Considering how he's teamless right now, a bit of branding and content creation might even help him get a new team.

Anyone else massively dissapointed in the new Charge upgrade and Adepts?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 11:42 AM PST

These 2 changes in particular feel like a colossal failure.

Chargelots are too fast to reliably keep with your main army, making them less effective for tanking, they deal significantly less damage which means they kill slower and have to tank more...it feels like they've been delegated to Zergling duty, Protoss edition and so far, this one change has killed Gateway builds.

And the new Adept change is just...like I can get how the balance team might not have considered the full effect of nerfing charge so heavily...but the Adept change was just bad. It was bad on paper and it's even worse in practice.

Anyone else somewhat disappointed with the balance team in regards to these two "design" changes?
