Posted: 24 Sep 2020 11:24 PM PDT I played this barcode when he was 4.8k a week ago and now he's 5254 in GM. I fully believe he's a hacker and noted a few of the times I found his play shady. It's very obvious when you watch from his perspective because you can see how little information he has when he makes his moves. I haven't played a hacker in 1v1 in a very long time but I 100% believe this player is hacking. TIL Mutalisks splash damage doesn’t hit undetected units. Posted: 24 Sep 2020 02:11 PM PDT Went into LOTV Unit Tester and found that Mutalisks Glaive Worm splash damage will not apply damage to undetectable units (burrowed widow mines, DT, cloaked units, burrowed Zerg, etc.). I tried this with all other units in the game who have splash damage and it turns out they ALL will in fact damage undetectable units. So it makes me wonder why this isn't the case with Mutas. Seems like an odd and nearly irrelevant inconsistency in the game (that I think should be patched so muta splash damages undetectable units). Noticed this when watching a pro game recently where the Zerg was harassing with mutas and the Terran burrowed a widow mine close to his has geyser to defend. The Zerg stayed out of widow mine range while attacking the geyser and I thought the glaives would bounce to the mine (which would be a sweet tactical play) but it never did, so I just had to try that out in unit tester. I think it would be an interesting mechanic to add to the game (especially since all other forms of splash already function this way). Could open the game for some high IQ plays. And hey, as a Zerg, I find widow mines incredibly difficult to deal with so this might help with that. [link] [comments]
Starcraft 2 siege tanks and other vehicles Posted: 24 Sep 2020 01:30 PM PDT Just bought starcraft 2 and enjoyed playing, however I couldn't find the siege tank or that fighter jet that transforms like in the trailer in my loadout/arsenal. CN I not deploy them from the barracks? If not how do I change my loadout and what troops I take into battle? Do I have to be a certain level? [link] [comments]

Abduct/Consume vs Feedback - Lategame Interaction Posted: 24 Sep 2020 04:49 PM PDT I have a genuine question for those who believe that ultra lategame PvZ is protoss favoured (at the top level). Specifically i would like to understand your perspective on the interaction between High Templars and Vipers. How do you view the interaction between Abduct/Consume and Feedback and what does either player have to do to come out on top? I'll be the first to admit to being far from an expert on lategame PvZ and most of what i'm saying is from watching and analyzing games of top players from tournaments. After apologizing let me mention briefly how I view this interaction and why I'm struggling to understand how Protoss is favoured. So let's assume it's split map scenario. Creep covers half the map, moving spore forest covers most of the perimeter on the Zerg side. A couple of fortified locations reinforced with batteries and cannons are set up near important bases on the perimeter from the protoss side. Let's say Zerg has mostly Corruptor/Viper and Lurkers or Broodlords for anti ground and Protoss has some combination of air toss carriers/tempests/voids together with some high templars, a couple of archons and maybe a mothership for good measure. Now the way I see the dance unfold is: Viper/Corruptor sneekly try to catch the protoos fleet at a position/angle he's not prepared for and go for abduct on one of the (high value) air units. If Protoss doesn't notice and caught off guard he loses one or more expensive units. If the Protoss does notice in time he can take advantage of the fact that feedback outranges abduct to feedback the approaching Vipers. When this happens Protoss saves one of their units from abducts but not a lot more than that. Why? Firstly a full health Viper will always survive a feedback even when full on energy. Secondly Vipers and Corruptors are a lot quicker than the protoss fleet so they can immediately disengage and fly behind the spore forest. The vipers can then replenish energy with consume and health with transfuse (Queens are almost never short on energy in lategame). In the mean time the best Protoss can do is very carefully trade interceptors with spores or sniping them with tempests. Both options are still dangerous as the corruptor ball can one shot any of those units if they come too close. Then when Vipers are healthy and energized they come back and we rinse and repeat. To me this seems rather Zerg favoured (assuming both sides have the required micro to control their armies effectively - which al beit might be more difficult for the zerg - as I explained I don't have tons of experience in this, especially not from the Zerg side of things) as they potentially get better rewards for less risk. I would love for someone to convince me otherwise. (Another caveat is that I have not seen enough games yet with the tempest upgrade which might be impactful in these situations so this is still a variable here). [link] [comments]
Starting Starcraft II partly shuts down my internet Posted: 24 Sep 2020 03:41 PM PDT Hey. Sometimes when I start Starcraft some parts of my internet shut down. I can't log in and I can't use some websites. For example, right now I was able to use tl.net but not sc2replaystats.com. The Bnet app declares me as ofline. After 3 or 4 minutes the connection comes back and everything works finde. Did anyone experience similar problems or has a solution for that? Thanks [link] [comments]
The WinterKnight Invitational - An SC2 Amateur's Tournament Posted: 24 Sep 2020 09:31 AM PDT Hello all! Welcome to the WinterKnight Invitational! What is the invitational you say? Well, this weekend I am running a amateur's starcraft 2 tournament with a group of my friends/acquaintances who are all new to the game. With a squad of newbies fighting over a grand total of a $35 prize pool, the competition is sure to be fierce, or at least amusing. The casting will be done live on twitch by myself and one other diamond league player, and we will only be making fun of them only just a little bit. But for real, it should be a fun time, so if you want to come hang out and watch some newbies duke it out in as competitive an event of this nature could be, feel free! Group pool is played Friday-Saturday, and wont be streamed, the semis and finals will be streamed over at twitch.tv/winterknightsc Sunday starting at 5:00PM CST. Bracket is not finalized yet, as a couple more are joining, but will be found at I do not think this is against forum rules, but I am new so if it is just let me know. [link] [comments]
