"You think you're so good in dia3?" Yes stranger, stop trying to be little me Posted: 23 May 2020 07:39 AM PDT I'm sick of people on the ladder saying how bad i am, because im in diamond league. No, I'm really good at the game and so are you! We're all quite good at the game. Basically everyone above gold would be considered amazing if they had the same skill in any other game. So fuck you trolls and doomers, stop being dicks and celebrate how good you and your opponents are at the game! submitted by /u/jaman4dbz [link] [comments] |
[Help] I consistently have a better economy and more workers, but I keep dying to mid-game aggression. What do I do to get out of bottom silver? Posted: 23 May 2020 06:49 PM PDT I'm following Vibe's bronze to GM terran build which focuses on learning to build an economy. I win probably 1 out of every 3 games and I'm alternating between 1800-2000 mmr. I try to macro my heart out but I always fucking die because at some point the other person stops building workers and starts building an army while all I have are shit tons of workers. My army supply is almost always behind. I have no idea how to balance the two. It's actually incredibly frustrating because the guides give the impression that if you always make more workers you'll just win. Not so on my end.... (inb4 'but you're probably not actually making workers') Also I can't seem to break 50 apm. submitted by /u/Its_Snowing [link] [comments] |

TSL Music & Identity Posted: 23 May 2020 12:25 PM PDT This mightn't be worth making a post about but here we go. It's super refreshing to see TSL look and sound the way it does. I can handle cheesy GSL songs, they're sort of part of the charm. What gets my goat is every event being chock-full of a particular kind of garbage EDM as well as that super hyperactive brand of dubstep. It's sort of a part of what Tastosis were refering to as 'gamer' stuff. I don't think it adds to the hype and it definitely doesn't add to my viewing experience. TSL downtime is way better than say DH* because it's fun. It doesn't take itself super seriously in its identity and branding and the music isn't trying to build some kind of fake intense atmosphere. Yeah, anyway, major thanks to the producers at TL or whoever made the calls to make this event look and sound how it does. *no disrespect to the folks behind the scenes at DH, I'm glued to all those events too. submitted by /u/dorkheimer [link] [comments] |
Attack Cutscene? Posted: 24 May 2020 02:00 AM PDT Alright I want to know how to make a cutscene where units actually fight other units like the start of the SCBW mission: Reign of Fire. like what triggers do we use in scmdraft. submitted by /u/Cheesemould [link] [comments] |
I would love to learn SC2, where do I start? Posted: 23 May 2020 09:03 AM PDT I know it seems a bit silly to learn a game like SC2 from scratch at this point in time and I by no means expect to get good at this game, however, for my own interest I have wanted to learn to play. I would love some advice on where to start learning, I literally know nothing. I have tried to watch YouTube videos but I just don't understand anything they talk about. Should I just start with the campaign? Or is there a better way to approach learning this game from the start? submitted by /u/Speeeedy_ [link] [comments] |
GSL Code S 2020 S1 | Ro8 | Day 2 | Rundown Posted: 23 May 2020 02:13 AM PDT Considering how the opening day of the Playoffs went, I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one super excited to watch what happens on the other side of the bracket, seeing as this is shaping up to be one hell of an ending to the Season. The third match in the Ro8 was another case of misdiagnosed foregone conclusion material, since Dear had the name value and record to hold over his opponent, however anyone paying attention could let you know this Cure has been something else for a while now and regardless of whether it was the Jin Air departure, the current state of our "offline" play or a combination of both, it's undeniable anyone banking on an easy series for the Protoss was severely mislead. No matter how intriguing the opening series was, the main event was by far the clash after that, with INnoVation putting his undefeated streak on the line versus the best Protoss in recent GSL history, who has made waves specifically in PvT by taking out none other than the aforementioned macro beast as well as his own teammate Maru. It was definitely the closest match on paper for the Ro8 taking into account recent form and history, so in the end it was really up to Trap to rise to the occasion one more time and reaffirm his status. Warning: Spoilers Ahead, Obviously History be damned, Cure pulled a TY tonight i.e. beat a rival without the series ever getting even remotely close, extending his incredible run of form and making it back to the Ro4 after over four years. The bizarre roller coaster ride of the following match certainly was something to behold, ultimately INnoVation edged out his opponent to get some much deserved revenge both for last year's shenanigans and the ending of his undefeated map streak. M3 | Cure [ 3 : 0 ] Dear | ★★☆☆☆ | Blowing Up The Turntables - Nightshade | The fastest scouting Probe in the East still managed to let Dear down as a Bunker founds its way behind his mineral line, at which point the Protoss either didn't respect the Terran's ability to micro or the nerves got the best of him, so he lost a ton of mining time and three workers on top of that. What followed was the slowest Blink Stalker push you've ever seen, which got held comfortably enough and as Cure crashed into the enemy base not long after a final hope Warp Prism backstab did some work to keep Dear in the game. As both players stabilized to the best of their abilities, the Protoss found himself being mini doom dropped on his expansion only to figure out that was one big distraction for the actual attack, which took out one Nexus after another and 20+ Probes to go with them, at which point the game was over even if the Terran base did get ravaged by some futile DT Zealot harass during that.
- Simulacrum | Dear adjusted pretty much immediately, opening with the Blink Stalkers again only to completely forego a push and instead grow on the map while playing defense, which he pulled off handily while deflecting most of the harassment while also slowing down his opponent's third CC. Given that he was in a bit of trouble, Cure had to pull off some sleek moves to get a footing in this one, which came in the form of two Warp Prism snipes and pretty much surrounding a Protoss army wandering around the map. After a few more pokes and attempted drops, Cure found an opening and took it, diving into his opponent's expansion where he took out the Robo and turned off the lights for one building too many, getting to over 30 army supply in the lead by the time the attack was cleaned up. From there Dear did his best to pull a rabbit out of the hat by going for DTs and double Robo, only to find Cure knocking on his door a little too soon and even as harassment was once again causing trouble for the Terran back at home there was no stopping him as the fourth Nexus was destroyed along with any real army the Protoss had left.
- Ever Dream | Workers chasing each other was how we kicked off the final map of the match, so Cure took advantage of the situation by not only sending out a second SCV which would pull off his proxy Factory Starport shenanigans, the Terran also managed to block his opponent's Nexus for a bit to sell him on the idea he was going for the long game. Already in a great spot, the cherry on top for Cure was when his Marines denied the initial Adept from scouting the lack of infrastructure for the Terran back at home and not long after 12 Probes were murdered by the Hellion Mine drop harassment, basically ending the game then and there. Dear stayed in as you would expect considering he was on his last life, so he tried utilizing a couple of Colossi to defend the incoming push which he initially sort of did, only to eventually lose 21 more Probes after getting pulled apart on multiple fronts. Too far behind in pretty much everything, Dear did what he could with what was left of his Gateway force - which wasn't a lot - so Cure finished him off accordingly.
M4 | INnoVation [ 3 : 2 ] Trap | ★★★☆☆ | Slapping Contest - Ever Dream | The full wall from INnoVation was the first hint we got something was up, when the second Barracks got put down along with a Factory and Starport it became perfectly clear the Terran had decided it was one base o'clock. Trap remained blind to the situation for a while and even as his Hallucination went across the map at around 4 minutes it was already too late as the boosted Medivac unloaded a pair of Tanks which sieged the exposed Cyber Core and Pylon powering the still not done Blink, so as the Bunker went up and even a Liberator arrived as the icing on the cake, it was time to move on.
- Obsidian | An even earlier Hallucination from Trap told us everything we needed to know about what he thought was coming here on the weirdo map, instead both players opted to hang back and macro up. Given that the cross spawn rush distances were incredibly terrible, the Protoss naturally got away with his greedy build and even though the Terran still managed to initially get ahead in supply as you would expect from the macro monster, his small attack arrived too little too late. Considering the game then slowed down to a crawl even further, Trap made the correct call to expand a bunch more while only really poking with his main army and as both players maxed out a Warp Prism simply flew into the Terran base to unload a few DTs and whatever else could be warped in, at which point F2 came into play and as INnoVation's entire army started running back and forth it opened the window for the Protoss to take out the fourth base along with 26 SCVs, so then INnoVation moved out in frustration and got his army surrounded & obliterated to make sure this one was completely done.
- Eternal Empire | Peace was never an option, it seems, as Trap decided to put down the proxy Gate despite winning out in the closest thing resembling a macro game so far and unfortunately for the Protoss it got scouted pretty much immediately. Despite the instant proxy Stargate nearby, some pretty sick micro with his Stalkers and even an overeager INnoVation losing a few too many units while trying to land his CC early, the Terran nevertheless cleaned up soon enough and then paraded his army across the map prematurely which should have gotten him punished a lot harder but then Trap lost 21 Probes as INnoVation's stranded army desperately suicided into the Protoss defenses, at which point - considering the Terran now had the worker, army and tech leads - it was time for Trap to tap out.
- Simulacrum | The perfectly placed remote Dark Shrine disguised as just another Stalker build allowed the Protoss player's DTs to just walk into the Terran base and wreak havoc, giving Trap a significant worker lead and a considerable edge, only for the Protoss to get his Archons caught morphing in the middle of the map and even though they didn't get fully killed INnoVation decided it was as good of a chance as he would get so he put his foot on the gas and charged across the battlefield. Blink Stalkers, the not dead Archons and even an Immortal kept picking off too much ultimately and even a pseudo late Probe pull wasn't enough to tip things over in favor of the Terran, who funnily enough had the worker lead by the end of his kamikaze attack, but it didn't really matter as Trap simply used his at that point superior army to end the game before that could make a difference.
- Zen | Things were looking calm initially as both players went into seemingly standard builds after INnoVation's fake proxy Barracks didn't scare the Protoss into anything drastic, only for the Terran's initial pokes with his tiny Reaper Hellion squad to result in more than a few worker kills. The real problem, however, was what followed, namely a Mine drop that somehow sneaked in under Trap's radar and resulted in 12 more Probe deaths, basically meaning the writing was on the wall for this one. INnoVation then dared his opponent to do something about the greedy third CC and I think we can agree killing three Supply Depos wasn't it. From there the Terran got a Raven to avoid the DT bop and the Protoss went into Storm to make the math as fuzzy as possible, so when the first real push came out by INnoVation he was kind of caught with his pants down so he lost a good number of units while trying to walk up a ramp into the Templar, only to then adjust immediately and pull off a perfect multi pronged attack, unloading in the main with his giant army and rushing the Protoss third base, while Trap pretty much failed to defend either with his only real forces completely out of position, so the Nexus and 20+ Probes died accordingly and with them any real chance he had to come back. Seeing as he still didn't want to leave anything up to chance, INnoVation powered up in upgrades and teched into Ghosts before doing his final assault, which had EMPs raining down to give his opponent no chance and as the last Disruptor shot was dodged on top of that, it became clear to Trap no amount of Archon shenanigans across the map would make the Terran turn around, so he decided it was time to go home.
It was always going to be hard to follow what happened on Wednesday, so I guess it makes sense tonight felt a little underwhelming. - Map of the Night - to be perfectly honest, today everyone was just taking turns blowing their opponent out of the water; in that regard, it's really hard to point out a particularly solid map where both players were in it and/or someone didn't get bopped, personally appreciated G2 from Cure the most, where I think he was in a pretty tough spot but powered through regardless and also have to go with G1 from INnoVation where he used his image of being considered a "macro robot" to go for some classic one base shenanigans (G5 from him was extremely solid as well, it's just hard to view it properly when you have to take into account the Protoss crippled himself due to not defending a mine drop at the start of the game and then blew his chances to come back).
Finally, here are some of my closing thoughts on each player: - Cure wasn't flawless today, which just goes to show the level he's reached to close things out without dropping a map anyway against a tough rival. The not Jin Air Terran has really had one hell of a Season, this pseudo-offline environment we're having to implement around the world right now is surely benefiting him the most out of everyone left, so here's hoping that's enough to help him out now that he has to face the favorite to win the whole thing in the mirror, which is obviously going to be a monumental task. In any case, it's been a very long time since Cure has gone this deep in Code S, so that's surely got to count for something and I'm sure he's very happy.
- Dear had pretty much as bad of a day as Zest did in the Ro16 and there was no "easy" opponent to bail him out this time, considering the Protoss had basically limped through the Group Stages more or less surviving off the base level difference between him and the opposition. Even if he'd historically had the upper hand in this matchup, we very quickly found out history was taking this week off when it felt like it, so Dear got pretty much bopped in every game even when he was in decent positions, he couldn't catch a break and aside from his backdoor attempts there wasn't much going for him at any point tonight, it was just one of those days.
- INnoVation is now the last former GSL Code S Champion left in the tournament, what a perfect time to leverage his form and status to tie with Maru and then go hard into next Season for the true G5L trophy. Granted, there's still the small matter of taking down Cure - who generally wins TvTs for a living, even if things haven't been going too hot for him in this particular matchup lately - and then deal with either TY or PartinG in the Final, which is easier said than done, but considering their combined number of Silver medals I'm pretty sure INnoVation would feel quite comfortable heading into it.
- Trap was on his way to pulling off the upset, even after losing all his Probes in that last game, but INnoVation was just too much for him today and lets be fair things did go wrong for the Protoss at critical times during the series. I still think it's clear Trap is at the very top of the game even if this Season has kind of been a nightmare for him, so I fully expect the Jin Air Protoss to make his way back to the Playoffs soon enough, especially if he gets to play himself into shape over the course of the Group Stages, I feel like the bye into the Ro16 really hurt him in the end (just like everyone else who got it, when you think about it).
As always, if you think differently let everyone know why in the comments below. Catch you on Wednesday May 27th for the showdown between TY and PartinG, where big brain plays and Blink Stalkers will collide for our entertainment. Thanks as always for reading & see you when I see you! (: -M P.S.
