Starcraft Co-Op Mutation #198: Getting Along

Starcraft Co-Op Mutation #198: Getting Along

    Co-Op Mutation #198: Getting Along

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 03:11 AM PST

Enemies are immune to all attacks of one commander, but not both. Terry says that's unscientific. What is scientific is that the catastrophe has created a shortage that forces the commanders to share what limited supply they have.

    Map: Vermillion Problem

    Sharing is Caring
Supply is shared between you and your partner, and units from both armies contribute to your combined supply cap.
    Polarity
Each enemy unit is immune to either your units or your ally's units.

    Video Replays on Brutal:

    Player 1                                   Player 2
    [CtG (Zeratul)] Ancalagon (Vorazun)
    [CtG (Arcturus)] Ancalagon (Karax)
    [CtG (Alarak)] Ancalagon (Stukov)
    [CtG (Abathur)] Ancalagon (Zagara)
    [CtG (Nova)] Ancalagon (Stetmann)
    [CtG (Kerrigan)] Ancalagon (Fenix)
    [CtG (Dehaka)] [Hunter (Raynor)]
    [CtG (Tychus)] [Hunter (Swann)]

    Other Notes:

    • [The actual supply of both commanders are added. However, the supply limit is still individual for each commander.] This means each player keeps the original supply cap, but must now accommodate both their supply and their ally's.
    • Commanders with 100 supply cap retain the 100 supply cap. They will NOT be able to produce any supply-consuming units if their ally goes above 100 supply, for as long as the ally is over 100 supply.
    • Commanders with instant max supply perks like Artanis and Dehaka retain their perks.
    • Half of every single attack wave and every base is immune to you or your ally. This means you cannot split between separate attack waves; both need to attack the same location simultaneously.
    • Enemies with the red shield are immune to your attacks. Another way to figure out which units are yours before engaging is to mouse over the enemy unit:
    • Immobilization Wave, Time Stop, and other movement/attack restricting spells still work on enemy units immune to you, but they deal 0 damage.
    • You can manually target the enemy units immune to you, but it will do 0 damage.

    Stork's game day! [SCTranslator]

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 02:08 AM PST

    Hello, everyone!

    I'm waiting today's ASL Ro24 :)
I really missed Stork's awesome PvsT operation, also I hope to watch Larva plays against Stork!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX73ODS7DEo

This is not typical Stork's PvsZ game, but he sometimes did special things.
He always beyond my imagination, even his pace was not that good, he used to win against the top players.
That's why I translated this match, Stork vs JD. I'd like to share this with you guys :)

    * Also I put some Spanish subtitles, enjoy the video and let's watch ASL later xD

Memes aside, why do pro Zergs keep making Ultras?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 05:07 PM PST

Yes, I'm familiar with "Ultras into lose." Yes, I've seen many games where Zergs do lose after going Ultras. And yet, the biggest names in the pro scene keep making Ultras. Dark, Serral, Rogue, Reynor, etc. I get that people are exaggerating just how bad Ultras are, of course, but from my perspective they still seem mediocre compared to the alternatives.

Assuming Terran is playing bio, it seems that all three Hive tech choices are viable. Bio/Mine and Bio/Tank haven't changed very much, if at all, since a year ago. Liberators got a range nerf, I suppose, but does that really matter when Ultras are melee units? Surely Lurkers benefit more from that. My working hypothesis is that since LBH has fallen out of the meta, it's too hard to move straight into Broodlords from pure Ling/Bane or LBM. And because there's no Hydras, getting them specifically for Lurkers is too much trouble. So by process of elimination, we end up with Ultras.

But then, why has LBH fallen out of the meta in the first place? Hydras haven't been changed for more than a year. If anything, I thought aggressive styles like pure Ling/Bane or LBM would be less popular after the nydus nerf. Especially because standard Bio/Mine can somewhat fight Ultras as well, but fails miserably against Lurkers and BL. What is so different about standard LBH into Vipers and BL compared to before? The BL range nerf only really matters for Thors, not bio, doesn't it? Was the style just figured out? But what changed with 2/2 tank pushes that wasn't known a year ago?

Sorry for the rambling. I guess my question boils down to this: If Ultras are bad, why are the pros making Ultras?

The Scion Custom Races (Mod) is Great!

The Scion Custom Races (Mod) is Great!

The Scion Custom Races (Mod) is a great mod for Starcraft 2, which has recently rose up in the top played list for mods and maintains a 5 star rating. It adds 2 more fully playable races, which have unique mechanics and different models. There are Scion Custom Races tournaments hosted occasionally, I myself have participated in several. The tournaments are mainly dominated by Genetron and Terran players. The creater is fairly active and the mod is still updated at times, generally after or before a tournament. I highly recommend this mod for pretty much anybody who does starcraft melee, as it is very well balanced.

I highly suggest joining the discord if you want to find people to play with.

Information here may be slightly outdated.

    Hideaways inhouse tournament

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 08:34 AM PST

Currently trying to fill a planned tournament. Just a friendly one to start off with to get some practice for our admins and casters. Our usual tournaments will include prizes but that is for the future if Starcraft succeeds in the hideaways. Now a short description of the hideaways.
Hideaways is a a growing discord community with people from all over which was founded around July and we already have over 700 members!! As the name and logo suggest, we're here for a good time, not the politicking and power trips that comes with most clans and servers. You're free to be who you want, play what you want and pretty much do and say what you want as long as you don't start a keyboard battle and specifically direct it at any of our other members intending to cause offence. We enjoy a laugh but none of us can be bothered with that sort of carry on. https://discord.gg/V9p5s8S
