The ESL open cup results are obvious evidence the game is massively imbalanced

    Posted: 16 Feb 2020 10:35 AM PST

Seriously, just look at the EU finals:

    1. Heromarine (German) beats Showtime (German)
    2. Heromarine (German) beats Harstem (not German)
    3. Clem (Not German) beats Heromarine (German)
    4. Heromarine (German) beats MaNa (not German)
    5. Neeb (Not German) beats Heromarine (German)
    6. Showtime (German) beats Lambo (German)

Out of 12 finalists we've had 8 Germans, literally 75%, Germans also have a 66.% winrate in the finals and two of the finals have been 100% German.

Please Blizzard, when are you going to fix this obviously broken balance?!

/s if it wasn't completely obvious. Congratulations to all the finalists (and other participants) of the ELS cups so far! Its really cool to get top names into weekend tournaments like this. ESL and Apollo have done well. Also a big ol F for Spazymazy, who woke up today, fired up sc2, and immediately got cannon-rushed to death by Neeb in the ro32.

    Very strange question

    Posted: 16 Feb 2020 08:19 PM PST

So I've had a crush all year on a boy who's favorite game is Starcraft. I learned how to play it so we would have a common interest, but I'm not great. I have played around have of a Terran DLC. I want to text said boy and need a conversation starter. I figured I could ask him a Starcraft question, but I can't think of any good ones off the top of my head. Any good question ideas?

Solar Confirms 3 Seasons of GSL in 2020 “With Some Changes”

Great interview! Solar confirms the return of several players and 3 seasons of GSL in 2020. Also seems to imply that the changes are very positive.

Standout Quotes: "There's going to be Code S, but there will be changes compared to last year."

" Honestly it will be a bit more... I think the competition will be more fierce than last year."

" Personally, I think you should keep an eye on players who returned from the military. There's a lot of players who finished their military service that are good, like DongRaeGu, Armani, or Dream."

    Hyyyyppppeeeee!

The recent StarCraft Ghost leak appears to have had most of its levels removed

    Posted: 16 Feb 2020 09:41 PM PST

As I'm sure some of you are aware by now, a test build of StarCraft Ghost has been leaked. That leak contains only two playable levels, one of which is broken. However, I believe that whoever leaked the game removed most of the levels for some reason.

Some of you may have missed it, but the first inkling that this subreddit got of Ghost possibly leaking was a post from about two weeks ago linking to a YouTube channel called Finn Hillbilly. Unfortunately I can't find that post now, and the channel has since been deleted, but it contained seven videos of StarCraft Ghost footage. One video only showed the menus and in that video you can see that there are 6 levels in the build. The other six videos each show gameplay from one of those levels. As a side note, I actually have the videos downloaded if anyone wants them. Back on topic though, anyone who has gotten their hands on the test build so far will note that the name Finn Hillbilly is in the name of the folder it comes in. You can also see the name in some of the videos floating around the subreddit. Thus I believe it's likely that the Finn Hillbilly channel owner is the one who leaked the game, and that their build originally had 6 playable levels in it.

A few possibilities I can see are:

    - This is actually a different, less complete build than the one in the videos and the presence of the name Finn Hillbilly in the folder name is unexplained

    - The level files did not export properly

    - The leaker removed them intentionally for some reason

Either way, there seem to be at least 4 additional level files out there somewhere. Will we ever get them? Who knows?

    Enhance Pointer Precision (mouse option)

    Posted: 16 Feb 2020 11:02 PM PST

Are people aware of this setting... I have always had it enabled and although Im not playing sc2 anymore at the moment I never had any issues controlling my units on ~3150 dpi with mouse acceleration on. It has always felt perfectly natural to me.

I turned it off because someone was talking about it on overwatch and now I think I may have screwed up my muscle memory... Using a mouse without acceleration is... very hard. It feels too slow and too fast at the same time...

Does everyone turn acceleration off? Was I the only one using it?

    Starcraft 2: Redux

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 01:04 AM PST

I'm starting a custom campaign that's an unofficial sequel to Starcraft 1 and Brood Wars.

In Disney fashion, this campaign considers Starcraft 2 and all E.U. material as non-canon though elements from them will be reused under a different context. I'm hoping this will end up better for me than it did for them.

The goal is to make a campaign with a story and gameplay closer in style, theme, and tone to the original series. No prophecy, no magic keystones, and no god-like squid gods.

    Wish us luck.

Here is my alternate canon timeline, warning spoilers if you care about that sort of thing.

Getting back to starcraft 2 - streaming possible?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 12:22 AM PST

    Hey everyone :)

I use to play a lot of starcraft in 2010 to 2013 (diamond)

Just played my 5 placements and somehow made to diamond 2 (Probably gold/plat back then)

You guys Think its possible to get into streaming this game if I stick to it til Masters 3? Im also interested in doing things for lower leagues like casting bronz matches or trying things out to get players like me back to the game.

I meet so many players that only Watch starcraft but dont play and my goal would be to getting These players back to some games or defeating Ladder anxiety which actually was the Reason for me quitting 2013. I just couldnt play anymore duo to Ladder anxiety and Id like to target people like me.

I know I wont be a lowko, winter, pig or whoever but thats not my goal. I want people to play this game Again and create a community for casuals where it easy to find new players with the same issues.

The streamers above Help teach but fighting Ladder anxiety, fatigue or teaching how to enjoy this game even while losing is something most peopl seem to struggle with I noticed.

What do you guys think? Was thinking something like Husky who ditched us back then would be needed.

    Greetings Ovian :-)

Did the Starcraft Ghost opening cinematic ever get put up anywhere in HD?

For years the versions we have had are either LQ or footage of the projection at a conference, with the new leaks any chance that gets put up?
