NA Challenger Player Returning To Starcraft And Looking To Stream

    Posted: 22 Dec 2019 12:23 AM PST

Hello! My name is Isaac Fox, better known as PandaBearMe. I was a competitive player from 2015-2018, overall I was a pretty consistent in the North American region as i qualified for nearly every WCS Challenger at the time. Since then, I've taken a break and now It's been 2 years since I've really practiced SC2.

I am picking up SC2 again, and I feel like i'm in a unique position to show the process of relearning SC2 again. Many players comeback after a long hiatus and start streaming, but it's only after they already caught up on the meta and got rid of their rust.

So my plan is to stream the process of relearning the game again after not competing for nearly 2 years. This will include actually playing SC2, watching vods and replays as well as talking about common problems I see in people who are trying to improve in the game.

I know I can't truly recreate the experience of a new player or even a lower level player returning to the game again, but I feel I can show fundamental ways to improve at SC2. So whether your learning the game for the first time or coming back to it after a couple years I hope you check out my first stream today at 4:00 PM CST.

    Simple fix for the MULE.

    Posted: 21 Dec 2019 10:17 AM PST

(I said this also in a previous comment)

Problem: the MULE often expires with mineral in its hands, causing the minerals to be wasted.

Solution: make it so that: Whenever a mule picks up minerals into its hands, at the same moment its remaining duration gets increased by 3 seconds. Whenever a mule returns cargo, at the same moment its remaining duration is reduced by 3 seconds. (If this makes the remaining duration negative, the mule then expires.)

The advantage of this approach is that it guarantees that mules won't ever expire with minerals regardless of whether they are mining close or far mineral cluster, provided that there's a properly placed CC/OC/PF at that base.

Quick graphs showing premier tournament win-rates since 2011

    Posted: 21 Dec 2019 09:54 AM PST

    Hi,

A few weeks back I thought it would be interesting to make a couple of simple graphs, showing how each race has performed in premier tournaments since 2011.

The first graph shows X race premier tournament wins by % and X year:https://i.imgur.com/szFcZej.png

The second graph shows X race player unique (I.e. if a player wins more than one tournament in that year, it is still counted as one) premier tournament wins by % and X year:https://i.imgur.com/hJa2XLj.png

Rather than pointing out what trends I find interesting, I thought it's best to just link the images.

Hope it's of interest, data was taken from liqupedia.

Cannot see worker progress bar, already ticked the relevant setting. Still nothing.

    Posted: 22 Dec 2019 01:20 AM PST

How do I make worker progress bar visible at all times? I already have "always show worker status" ticked in options. Still nothing. I can only see it if I'm mousing over it. Same for upgrades etc. Any help appreciated.

Adept Upgrade suggestion due to the revert in patch.

    Posted: 22 Dec 2019 12:30 AM PST

Change the upgrade to the following

    • Shadeless Strike - If the Adept has not used Shade in 15 seconds (including if you cancel the spell) than the adept gains .5 range and its auto attacks deal Normal Damage and strike an additional target for 50% damage.

This would leave its harrassment via shade unchanged as blizz wants for their "cool factor, allow for new warp prism builds with drop micro, give adepts more late game use while also allowing them to deal well with masses light units like marines and zerglings.

Most importantly it will leave them still easily countered by banelings roaches and marauders, it wont really affect pvp (It will still take 2 adepts to 1 shot probes but if used in a wp than you have a chance for a free 3rd worker kill or soften others.)

To me the Adept is not weak but its always just been that solid really early unit and nothing more. Long past are the days of adept all ins. If Blizz wants to define their role i think this is a good way. Mostly because it strengthens the unit without affecting balance drastically. You want it to have mobility you weaken its stength. You want to have strength you give up its ambushing charge, but most of all, it can still retreat but in activating the shade it weakens itself to run away.
