The enemy's orbital beam has energized his forces as they spawn from seemingly everywhere, even from your fallen buildings. Keep them away from the Terrazine!

    Map: Mist Opportunities

    Eminent Domain
Enemies gain control of your structures after destroying them.
    Purifier Beam
An enemy Purifier Beam moves across the map toward nearby player units.
    Void Rifts
Void Rifts periodically appear in random locations and spawn enemy units until destroyed.

    Rating: Brutal +3

    Video Replays on Brutal:

    Player 1                                   Player 2

    [CtG (Tychus)] [Ancalagon (Vorazun)]

    [CtG (Abathur)] Iswald (Stukov)
    [CtG (Fenix)] [Lila (Raynor)]
    [CtG (Arcturus)] [Hunter (Zagara)]

    Notes:

    • Each Void Rift has 500HP, and their spawnings are signalled by a minimap ping on each Rift.
    • The first Void Rifts spawn very close to your base, however the Rifts start to spawn further, often behind enemy lines.
    • Units that spawn from Void Rifts do not drop biomass nor essence.
    • Void Rifts tend to spawn in places where there are not a lot of enemy units nearby.
    • The Purifier Beam is permanent for Amon, and spawns at the start of the map. It slowly chases your units, and also [your static defense]
    • Eminent Domain does not work on stetellites, toxic nests, or omega worms.

Stylistic Changes to our Flair system, including the Spoiler Tag. An Announcement

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 03:33 PM PST

    Hello everyone,

So this is something we have been working on for a while and we have decided to finally roll out the changes.

Our flair system has been around for a very long time, and needed to be updated and streamlined. A lot of the categories had a lot of crossover, and simultaneously a lot of content did not fit into many of the categories we had. As such, we have introduced a new flair system which includes a new categorization structure for different content. This also means that some flair colours have in fact changed, and most importantly,

we have done away with our old Spoilers Tag flair system in favour of using the tag system that already exists sitewide.

Here is the official changelong, announcement post regarding this feature for those that are not familiar with it:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/changelog/comments/59jkbq/reddit_change_spoiler_tags_beta/

Our old Spoilers filter system was a workaround to the fact that reddit did not actually have a spoiler tag up until fairly recently. This flair/filter setup predates the current spoiler system that is currently embedded on reddit. The newer system allows users directly to flair their post or content as spoilers by themselves. It functions similarly to the already existing NSFW tag, as such:

    https://i.imgur.com/GXA8RNU.png

So now, when you make a post and wish to tag it as a spoiler, you can do so by looking at the bottom of the text on your post, next to the edit button and all that jazz and mark it as a spoiler.

As a result, when a post is tagged as a spoiler:

It is labelled with a tag

Its thumbnail is replaced with an icon

Its preview (if available) is hidden and requires a click to reveal

If your title includes the word spoiler, reddit will automatically assign it the spoiler tag.

As it has always been on /r/starcraft we encourage users to remember to use neutral, non spoilery titles when they create spoiler posts. You guys have been really great with that and we look forward to seeing more of that kind of consideration.

New Flair Categories and Corresponding Colours

A few categories have been merged together to reduce redundancy:

Purple: This used to be meta only, but now it also includes discussion and self text posts. Things like installation questions, lore questions, Starcraft universe discussion, Starcraft 1 related discussion and anything of that sort. If it is a joke/meme post there is a different category for it, and if it is an esports post, there is also a separate category for that. This is in order to keep the category as true to the concept of discussion as is possible.

Green: Green has always been videos and stream clips and that has not changed. This category will remain the same.

Blue: Not blizzard blue post, boring old blue. This post used to be a flair for either event or esports. There was naturally a lot of crossover between the two so now all events, all esports news, all esports updates, esports discussions will be flaired as blue.

Pink: Pink used to say some other thing but now it is assigned to what used to be called Arcade. Realistically we used the Aracade flair a lot for Co-op as well. As such, we have renamed pink to also make a clear reflection that this is very much the category to browse for Co-op related posts as well as Arcade and specific singleplayer mode discussions as well.

Yellow/Orange like colour: This used to just be memes, fluff posts, and offbeat things. We have decided to merge art and user created content to this category and renamed it User Created and Fluff to reflect these changes.

The categories are pretty self explanatory, and we also have a small table showing the colours assigned to different flairs in our sidebar, under "Tag Meanings".

MOST IMPORTANTLY OF IT ALL. ALL USERS ARE NOW ABLE TO ASSIGN FLAIRS TO THEIR OWN POSTS. Yes that's right, you no longer have to wait around for us to flair your post. This is so that things can get categorized quickly and efficiently. Please do not abuse this function and flair things accordingly, if you are not sure what to flair your post, just leave it blank, we can do it.

Thank you all and best of luck.

    [Blizzard] CO-OP MISSION UPDATE – DECEMBER 16TH, 2019

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 12:32 PM PST

New updates announced on the sc2 forums. Tychus, Zeratul, Mengsk, Stetmann, and Brutal + getting an update.

"Hello all! We hope you've been enjoying Mengsk, his endless Troopers, powerful Royal Guard, and overall questionable war tactics. Whether Mengsk is your commander or choice or not, we have another surprise for you: the final Co-op commander revamp consisting of changes to Tychus, Zeratul, Stetmann, and even Mengsk. Because we wanted to get this update out before the holidays and very soon after Mengsk, we'll be forgoing our traditional multi-week update format in favor of a more concise summary of planned changes. Here's what you can expect soon in an upcoming patch:

    Tychus

Tychus' changes will focus on improving some of his lesser used outlaws: Blaze, Lt. Nikara, and Vega. We'll also be taking a look at Medivac Pickup as we believe it provides too much instantaneous free healing, allow Tychus to be a bit more responsive than we liked and crowding out options like Lt. Nikara.

    Zeratul

For Zertaul, we believe his Legendary Legions and Tesseract Cannons are too powerful for their respective costs. At the same time, we'd like to take stock of all the Artifact powers to ensure that they're more competitive with each other across each tier.

    Stetmann

One piece of feedback we've received about Stetmann is how overly transformative Super Gary is as an upgrade. As such, we'd like to improve Gary relative to Super Gary such that players will be incentivized to spend more of their time as Gary. We'll also be taking further steps to lower the potency of Mecha Roaches while increasing the power and usability of Mecha Battlecarrier Lords.

    Mengsk

For Mengsk, we're going to be looking to tweak both his starting economy and the Imperial Support he gains when his Troopers are Indoctrinated as both trend higher than intended. We'll also continue to implement bug fixes and tweaks to his more underused units and abilities.

    Brutal+

After reviewing feedback, we'll be lowering the difficulty of Brutal+ across the board with the exception of Brutal+6. In addition, Brutal+1 through +4 will now be capped at 3 mutators each, and you'll generally be more likely to get fewer mutators overall.

And with that, we want to wish everyone happy holidays and especially happy Co-oping!

Trying to understand how certain maps are good or bad for certain races

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 07:06 PM PST

I'm trying to look for resources on this (subreddit search here and the race-specific subreddits, Google, etc.) and I can't find much.

I've found this for Zerg and how Zerg typically wants:

    • a relatively defensible third so they can establish themselves and actually start doing things
    • relatively open fourth/fifth/beyond expansions and a generally wide open map that allow them to exploit their mobility and avoid running into chokes
    • big maps that delay counter-harassment/pushes if their own pushes fail

    and, conversely, Terran/Protoss prefer

    • a relatively defensible natural (and that they don't necessarily need the third as fast as Zerg would, as much as they need it to go into mid/lategame)
    • a relatively indefensible or open third (particularly against Zerg)
    • relatively safe fourths/fifths
    • small maps that mitigate lack of army mobility

Any other things to add? Also, what are the particularly significant differences, if any exist, between Terran and Protoss?

    Hi all,

just wanted to share this fun RTS I found! Popped up on /r/realtimestrategy its called Little War Game, starcraft style real time strategy but simpler, and slightly slower so it is much more beginner friendly. Its a small community but doesn't take long to find games, people have been pretty friendly and my starcraft experience transfers super easily over to it. Just thought some other people might get a kick out of this as much as I have!
