Co-Op Mutation #186: Medieval Times Posted: 25 Nov 2019 02:19 AM PST The swirling radiation around the Voidshade Hybrid has given your enemies the ability to grow into more powerful forms, as well as cause an incurable plague to spread. Only destroying the Void Slivers will stop this growing threat. ­ Map: Scythe of Amon Black Death Some enemy units carry a plague that deals damage over time and spreads to other nearby units. The plague spreads to your units when the enemy unit is killed. Avoid losing ANYTHING whenever possible. Enemies transform into tiers based on the supply of the units they kill. An enemy that kills a Zealot (2 supply) will level two tiers. Enemy units, upon transforming, return to full health. Make sure to focus the strong ones before they become Hybrids. Any enemy unit has 33% to carry black death on Brutal. Players units that carry this plague will lose 2% of their max HP per second on Brutal until they die. When any infected unit dies [player's or Amon's], it will spread to 3 random players' units within 5 range. Stukov's Bunkers, Karax's Repair Beam, 100-biomass Abathur units, and being in Kerrigan's Omega Worms all out-heal the plague. HSC XX - we want highlights and games thread! Posted: 25 Nov 2019 06:31 AM PST Hello fellow starcraft fans, This past four days we watched one of the best SC2 tournaments ever in HomeStory Cup XX. But if you're like me, you skew a bit older, and had real life responsibilities to attend to while the tournament was going on. Is there going to be a highlights / best games thread that we can contribute to or put together? I don't really want to tax TakeTV right now, they're probably up to their armpits in cleaning up. I couldn't find a thread on TL or on this sub, so here's what pitiful amount I've managed to compile. Some with links, even! Day 1 - Artosis Shames Himself iNcontroL tribute Shopify CEO Tobi Lutke donates $25,000 to HSC XX, doubling the prize pool Chris Loranger announces the $3,000 best game competition (where is the vid?!?) Kim Phan we expected, but a surprise Mike Morhaime appears! HSC XX's intro video - Everyone is here! The extremely serious and important slide competition. It's not about the prize pool, it's about the sweet taste of victory. Someone please show me where the vid of mana sliding down is, his dead eyes throughout that ride... Kelazhur's run Stats uThermal winter emil lambo zanster's is immediately after lambo's Awards ceremony for the winner Surprise player intros! Zest petting his pet parrot is the best one IMO. Special casting. Get this guy on the couch more often, everything is imba except terran which is trash!! The jeep race thingy... you just gotta see it. Quick story about Mike Morhaime that I've never shared Posted: 25 Nov 2019 09:05 AM PST Last year I went to BlizzCon for the first time. Right before the event a couple of StarCraft nerds (including myself) gathered in a bar next to the venue to watch the RO16 playoffs games. At one point I turned around and was shocked: Mike Morhaime had casually walked into the bar without anyone noticing. He was just watching the games with us - not saying a word. I couldnt believe the CEO of Blizzard (still the case back then) would just show up to such a small event with maybe 10-15 people to hang out with us and watch StarCraft. A couple of days later at BlizzCon itself, I ran into Mike a second time. I think the event officially ended around 8pm. On my way out I saw him with a huge queue waiting. Most people wanted to get his signature, take a photo and tell him how much Blizzard games have meant to them. He was there for many hours, and still going around 11pm. The security was pissed and wanted to close everything down. But what were they going to do, kick out the CEO of Blizzard? Haha... Mike wouldn't turn down anyone, even after so many hours and what must have been hundreds of people. It was amazing to see his passion for the game & his respect to the fans in action. So yeah, Mike is a legend. Without Blizzard, there would never have been SC, WC3 (and hence no Dota/LoL). Who knows where esports would be today. We owe him a lot. Long term effects of Zerg dominance in the competitive scene Posted: 25 Nov 2019 10:54 PM PST This post has little to do with balance. It is relevant whether or not the recent patch made the game balanced or not (which is imho way too early to judge). Is anyone else worried that continued Zerg dominance might be driving proffesional Protoss and/or Terran players away from the competitive scene? I imagine it must be so difficult to keep the motivation to improve going when you keep watching even the best players of your race, the torch carriers, barely making it to ro4 and keep getting beat down in such a convincing manner by the top Zerg players.
