If the next StarCraft game is not a RTS, which genre would you prefer it to be? Posted: 31 Oct 2020 02:20 AM PDT Allegedly, one of the reasons some of the SC2 devs left and funded Frost Giant Studios is because Blizzard isn't very interested in developing a new RTS at the moment. At least, according to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier and some other people. So, I guess now the question is: which genre would make a better fit for the next story set in the Koprulu Sector? What would people enjoy the most? Should the next StarCraft game focus in a smaller scale story with a main character, or keep the big scale story of the RTS games? Personally I've always thought that StarCraft is the perfect setting for a 3rd person shooter with a solid single player story ala Gears of War, maybe with a multiplayer mode in the likeness of Planetside 2 where you can play as units of the three main factions. We play a few ranked 2v2s and get placed in MASTERS league? Am I tripping or what? We lost 2 of 3 placement games, I play Terran bio 150 apm and he is somewhere in the region of 100 apm on toss. PiliPili back at it again, boosting another top GM in NA Posted: 30 Oct 2020 10:33 AM PDT Hello SC2 community, looks like Pilipili is back at it again. This eXaScaLe guy who has historically only played team games at a diamond level is now all of a sudden rank 6 GM! "His" first season of 1v1 ladder was last season, as can be seen on his career summary and his rankedftw page: https://www.rankedftw.com/team/6689149/#td=region&ty=c&ra=best&tyz=0&tx=a&tl=1 . After his first time playing ladder he was all of a sudden 30-1 right into masters 1, and climbed up to top 16 GM within 2 months. Looking at his 1v1 replays, you can see the nexus on control group 3, production on 4, and the scouting probe binded to 1, 4, and 6 which is EXACTLY how pili's hotkey setup is. Furthermore, when you look at his 4v4 replays, he has his nexus on 4 and production on 3. Seems backwards. "He" also has 270-300 apm in his 1v1 games and has impeccable timings, but watching his 4v4 replays, you can tell this guy is not good. He has 130-150 apm (I know apm is not directly correlated with skill, but watch his 4v4 replays and you'll see what I'm talking about: https://sc2replaystats.com/player/2531558). He has no micro and bad builds in these 4v4 games, and looks like a mid diamond player at best. With no previous 1v1 history, over 4000 career games, and his team games history going back almost 2 years, it is hard to imagine that this guy is a smurf. First Grandmaster Tournament Win Posted: 30 Oct 2020 12:28 PM PDT For those who didn't read my earlier post, I'll sumarize it here. I picked up Starcraft II when I was 4 years old and played it pretty much ever since, gradually I got better, from beating the campaign on casual to recently getting promoted to masters, after 1500~ games as Terran. And a few days later, I tried doing an in game tournament, and guess what? It put me on a grandmaster level tournament. I must say I got a bit frightened and reluctant but I decided to play the games anyway. First game I defended a cheese from a Protoss, it was, in my opinion a pretty close game, but I managed to sneak in a win. Second game, my opponent forfeited the match. At this point I realized I was going to the grand finals of a grandmaster tournament, only days after getting to masters. The third and last game I played a macro game, against a strong Protoss player. And after a lot of close fights and gut-wrenching moments I managed to grab myself a victory. Why is Disruption Web never used in pro matches? Posted: 30 Oct 2020 09:21 AM PDT Been years since i played original SC and ive been watching ASL recently. Why do protoss players never use disrupt web? ​ Considering if say its a PvZ and toss is already making corsairs to counter muta upon which Zerg will eventually transition to hydra/lurker. Wouldn't it be best to get the upgrade and use it on the lurker's so ur army doesn't get demolished? ​ At some point it seems all of the pro players are very stubborn in the way that they play. It's always the same strats. ​ As tastosis recently stated, why don't more ppl use maelstrom? I only saw it one time in this season's ASL and it worked the minute the player used it. ​ Arbiter recall against zerg for example as well.
