Co-Op Mutation #229: Hello My Old Friend Posted: 07 Sep 2020 06:15 AM PDT The vortex of swirling energies around the Void Slivers eat away at anything that isn't in a building, and jams your reconnaisance systems. When hybrid die, they explode in an enormous blast that disables all your weapons. Only destroying the slivers will restore order to the area. Posted: 07 Sep 2020 11:10 PM PDT I'm curious about other people's journeys. For me, I focused on grinding out customs when I was in Plat/Dia so my build execution and macro was already decent. Getting to Master seemed to be mostly about improving my scouting and reactions because I would often die to unscouted cheeses and all-ins or not prepare well enough for timings. I feel like for most people it's a combination of polishing your execution for the first 6min and having scouting + basic reactions figured out. [link] [comments]
How can we get more young players? Posted: 07 Sep 2020 10:56 PM PDT I recently read an interview with DRG and wanted to start a conversation. https://tl.net/forum/starcraft-2/561480-interview-drg-on-gsl-and-more I'm worried about the long-term future of SC2, such as in 10 years. We seem to be a small but fiercely loyal group of fans and players but run the risk of becoming "stagnant water". DRG thinks the Korean scene is already stagnant water, which I would agree with. Even the "upcomers" in the GSL are in their 20s and have already been playing the game for several years. The foreign scene looks promising, with young players such as Clem and Reynor, but are there Korean equivalents? Young pro gamers nowadays seem to prefer games such as League of Legends or Fornite. Understandably, because the barrier to entry is much lower with slower and more forgiving gameplay. There's also better support and more prize money in those games which makes it even more appealing. What can we do to encourage more young players to try SC2? [link] [comments]

watching SC2 Masters Fall Vods is a mess Posted: 08 Sep 2020 12:32 AM PDT Im trying to keep up with the sc2 tourneys in my free time, but when i see the vods uploaded on youtube, its a HUGE DUMP. I check in and see like 130 vods just for Fall, and then they are not posted in order, or by region, but all the different regions are wildly mixed in the playlist. I cannot follow a storyline and see how the players are performing, as it then seitxhes in the next vod to another playlist, and there being just... so many vods... and I love watching the tournies and catching up afterward! Its just so messily uploaded, without the outro's, cutting off right after the matchwin, without giving it some breathing room of talking about the winner or anything like that. Honestly ive been watching sc2 since its inception, but trying to catch these vods have been a terrible experience and feels like a devolution compared to WCS previously. Do you have similiar gripes or am I alone with this one? [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Sep 2020 02:20 AM PDT Hey there A little off topic but Innovations little brother who goes by the name „Gumayusi" is playing the regional qualifiers to qualify for „worlds" (world championship) in League of Legends for his team „T1" and people are going insane about his mechanics. Seems like being machines and esports is a family business. [link] [comments]
Can new players join this game? Posted: 07 Sep 2020 12:19 PM PDT I recently got my first PC. I've weirdly always enjoyed watching pro Starcraft without ever having played it. Is it too late to start this game? Is everyone already super competitive? How hard is it for a new player? [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 Sep 2020 05:16 PM PDT He was a top zerg constantly reaching finals and dominating koreans in TB's KotH tournaments, he was even sponsored by Red Bull. I'm sure I'm missing something but I believe he never retired officially, all I remember is that I stopped seeing him in tournaments and then just like that he was gone for good. Just played my placements after not having played since Wings Posted: 07 Sep 2020 10:20 PM PDT I used to play protoss and offrace zerg, so i decided to play random as I'm getting used to a new hotkey setup anyway and I don't love protoss' play style nowadays. I played 5 straight games of Terran. YEEEEESH [link] [comments]

Why StarCraft 2 can feel lonely for the average player and a pipe dream solution. Posted: 08 Sep 2020 01:03 AM PDT TLDR at bottom. I just want to preface this by saying this is just my experience in 1v1s and not everyone needs a social element while they game. Starcraft 2 can be a lonely experience for 1v1 ladder play. Yes there team games, co-op, customs, etc, which are great fun. 1v1 ladder by comparison is not as fun for some because it lacks a dedicated social element. Invested players can make it social by playing with friends, practicing, having smaller tournaments, etc, but not everyone wants to invest in being the best platinum player they can be just for the sake of their personal rank. The most fun I've had playing sc2 1v1 was in college playing in the CSL (collegiate starcraft league). The reason it was fun (besides hanging out), was for the fact that friends were invested in the outcome of my 1v1 matches due to it directly affected the team's success. This is where my idea stems from. So basically, we have automated 1v1 tournaments which work well, so how about automated team-league-esque matches? 6 or 10 players sign up and the game puts them into 2 teams of nearly equal mmr. You could potentially have a personal team league record ladder, or even incorporate "party teams" in the same way current team ladders are handled (any new combination players becomes a new team). Both teams could observe the match with a small built-in delay and chat restrictions to reduce easy cheating and messing with the players. Anyways, it's just an idea and makes me wish it was something they thought to pursue earlier. Perhaps there's a custom game that already exists (similar to peepMode or whatever it was called). Maybe we could see this in Starcraft 3 :) TLDR: Playing 1v1 matches could appeal to a broader audience if the matches had a social element. Idea: Have a team league environment for these type of players similar to automated tournaments. [link] [comments]

Unranked and ranked same queue system? Posted: 08 Sep 2020 01:59 AM PDT Hey, When I look in the postgame, sometimes my opponent will show their ranked division, even though I'm playing unranked. Also when I look in their match history it shows that they won or lost points. Do people who play ranked and unranked get matched up against each other? [link] [comments]
when will we get to choose the race we want to play against in unranked? Posted: 07 Sep 2020 05:11 PM PDT didnt blizzard announced this to come soon? like 2 years ago? or did i just dream this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Sep 2020 01:55 AM PDT Why isn't there a marker showing range for (most) spells? With the white circle marker. I'm just curious as to why they don't add it like a toggle on and off feature; does it make the game easier or something? By white circle marker I mean the stuff Tempests and cyclones have. BTW the range I'm referring to is different from, say, the AoE marker of storm or EMP. [link] [comments]
Is there a website where you can fill in your predictions? Posted: 08 Sep 2020 01:54 AM PDT Hi, I want to fill in the Dreamhack playoffs predictions but can't find a good website where you can insert predictions. Only tournament bracket creators but either seeds are randomized or you cant assign players in series (otherwise I could just replicate the bracket from ESL of course). Halp [link] [comments] |
