Does it seem like the quality of professional games has dramatically increased recently?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 02:57 PM PDT

Over the past two weeks, I've become aware of a feeling that we are seeing a general trend towards "exceptional" sc2 games becoming the norm.

When I think of a standard game, I think of build vs build, either one countering the other, or one being strong enough to seal a victory for that player a few minutes after the first attacks.

What I'm seeing these days are more and more scenarios where a unique scenario breaks out, and each player kind of "wings it" for much of the game. We have semi base trades, multiple small skirmishes at a time, basses lost and retaken over and over, etc.

Is anyone else seeing this trend? have we just had a really lucky streak in this round of 16 GSL, Dreamhack, and TSL5?

Why is it that as a community we cannot seem to see that all of the races have similar requirements for APM and macro, they just manifest Differently

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 05:54 PM PDT

Over my time as a player, I have played all the traces to some degree, mostly Terran and Protoss, but a fair amount of Zerg, and have found that they all have the ability to be played Macro with very little to no micro and get to plat or up, and all the races need micro at high levels, and for all of he races high level play means a lot of micro. There is NOT a "a-move" race, and there is no Rae that require a massively higher micro than another. If you play Zerg, you may end up doing less casting depending on your style, but to macro Zerg need much more attention, as the loss of drones and the need to creep and inject can massively increase APM. Terran may need to do a lot when it come so seige units and splitting, but at the same time, that have a lot of ways to deal damage that are relatively low APM, such as doing a hellion runby or yawing nukes to force the enemy spent time to find the red dot Protoss has led micro when it comes to how they macro, but to get damage early game they need some for of conetrated micro be it blink or gadept. And, late game they have more casters to juggle on average , as they need to manage HTs, Sentrys, Disruptors, Oricoles, and blink while they split and target fire. Everyone has a lot of thing thay need to do to succeed, amove race and "insert race" has all the micro and both false, and instead of crying, race is OP, think instead about how we can all learn to be better players from both our wins and losses, and in the end, have fun, because, behind all the salt, balance whine, BM, and tilting, it is simply a community that has come together to have fun over a great game

TLDR less balance whine, less "my race hard, your race OP", and more hanging out. And having fun

Legacy of the Void Campaign with Zero Deaths on Brutal

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 09:12 AM PDT

    Hello fellow Commanders!

After u/GiantGrantGames completed the Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm campaign on hard difficulty without loosing a single unit, I decided to try the same thing for the Legacy of the Void campaign but on brutal difficulty. Here is the result!

The challenge was super fun and I highly recommend veterans, who completed the campaign a dozen of times already (at least I did), to challenge themselves in some way to spice things up. Shout out again to GiantGrantGames for the inspiration.

    Enjoy!

Edit: Some statistics about the challenge

    • Total kills: 11594
    • Total mission duration: 6h 42h 13s
    • Average mission duration: 27m 29s
    • Longest mission: 45m 13s (Temple of Unification)
    • Shortest mission: 11m 12s (Rak'shir)

Anyone feel that Ghost EMP is getting a little too strong against Protoss?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 04:35 PM PDT

I just watched Neeb vs Innovation and as a Terran main myself, I couldn't help but feel like Protoss has no clear definitive answer against Viking ghosts composition. HTs used to be the strongest choice but ever since the ghost buff nobody uses them anymore and just sticks to Colossus and Disrupters, which are more clunky and vulnerable to maruader right clicks.

When I saw Neeb play, I seriously have no idea how a Protoss would respond to a Terran lategame. Admittedly, this may be because I am a terran main and never tried protoss myself. Anybody here can change my mind?

Possible to re-skin units for your client in SC2? E.g. turn my marines into Warhammer 40k Space Marines

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 11:28 PM PDT

I was wondering if it's possible to re-skin the units I see in my game, for example importing custom 3D models, and playing multiplayer (or even just single player to start) with them showing for me.

In particular I think it'd be super cool to re-skin the Terran army with various 3D models of Warhammer 40k Space Marines. After all, SC did start at some point inspired by it =P

Is this possible? Would I be able to play online against others with my 3D models?

Would appreciate any info and advice, thanks!

Team UnRivaled is looking for active players of all leagues to join our team and compete in weekly clanwars.

    Posted: 16 Jul 2020 12:15 PM PDT

Hello there, my name is Stifle, and I am a member for Team UnRivaled. We are currently looking for active SC2 players across all leagues to join to compete in clan wars and leagues for all skill levels!

We are a storied clan, originally created to compete in the CTL. The CTL is a proleague styled teamleague in which teams play each other each week in sets separated by leagues. The top teams at the end of the season advanced to the post-season. Since TeamUR joined the league in Season 2, we have been the most successful team over the history of the league, including winning the most recent championship! TeamUR is also active in the Alpha Team League's (ATL) Amateur division, a proleague style team league for players below 4900 MMR. Lastly, we also run inhouse events exclusive to Unrivaled teammates for you to play in to bond with your teammates.

Why join Team UnRivaled? We're a closely knit and welcoming group of people. The team discord is a great place to hang out and chat. Most of us are also involved in other games, and are always up for talking about games, sports, or even just life in general. As a smaller team with an application process, you can easily form great relationships with everyone, and become part of the Team UnRivaled family.

If you are interested in joining, please fill out [this](https://kamarill.typeform.com/to/HhsY5L) form, it's only 10 short questions. After reviewing your application, an admin will reach out to you, most likely on Discord, in order to set up a tryout. Generally, you'll play a few games of StarCraft, and we'll chat about the games and yourself a bit. It's all just to make sure you're a good fit for us, and that we're a great fit for you.

If you have any questions or want to chat, you can respond to this post, or you can add me on Discord (Stifle#4374) or message me on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/MarineKing6). I'll be more than happy to talk with you. -Stifle
