    Obscure properties of Psi-storm

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 07:31 PM PDT

Hi, I'm sure many people know what this post covers (I'm a Terran player who just figured it out, I'm sure Protoss players already know this) but I'd like to share this:

Firstly, the very 1st tick (10 damage) of storm damage is applied instantly.

"[This] can be demonstrated in the unit tester map. We know that a reaper's auto attack is instant, aka has a damage point of "0" https://liquipedia.net/starcraft2/Damage_Point. First, stim a marine down to 5 health. As storm ticks deal 10 damage per tick, the marine would be one shot instantly. Next, move a reaper within 5 range of the marine, with an allied warp prism on top of the reaper. Pause the game. Autoattack the marine with the reaper, then shift queue the reaper to load into the medivac. After unpausing, you'll see the reaper fire to kill the marine, then load into the warp prism after its autoattack cooldown elapses. Next, do the same setup, but have a high templar storm the marine while the game is paused. After unpausing, we'll instead see the reaper load into the medivac instantly, as the autoattack never goes off. This is because the 1st tick of storm damage kills the marine. If storm weren't instant, the reaper would fire at the marine and wouldn't load into the warp prism instantly." - Taken from another post from my account.

secondly, any unit hit by storm will take an additional tick of damage after leaving the AOE (unless it's loaded into a transport).

This is not a balance complaint or anything lol, I just thought it's pretty cool info that hopefully clears some misconceptions of how the spell works, and I'm kinda proud of figuring out a method to prove that storm is instant. Anyway, thanks for reading and have a good day.

Are zergs able to warp jump?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 09:10 PM PDT

So, terrans and their battlecruisers can do it. They call it tactical jump, and it's essencially what we see in sci-fi as hyper=space, hyper-jump,... and they use it to fight in various planets.

Protoss have several tech we don't understand, and surely can warp too, as seen in cinematics and gameplay.

BUT zergs... how do they follow the war and atk various planets? Can they warp? Can they dance? who knows? Let's discuss how it works. I'm talking about lore and stuff, not how would it work in the gameplay.

I personally think it's not a matter of a growing and expanding army, cause there's at least 1 specific zerg who is always on the fight, queen of blades.

How do I better deal with tilt?

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 01:44 AM PDT

I tilt off of any loss no matter what happens pretty much. I'm still at the point in ladder where my win % is well above 50% and yet any loss leaves me feeling like I'm about to demote and belong in silver. I've had days where I win 3-5 in a row then lose one and I can't play anymore for a few hours cause I'll tilt myself into a loss, especially if it was my first time facing X race that day or if I ever lose any mirror matchup. This is annoying cause I don't have all day to play games, and it's hard to improve if I'm too tilted to play.

I made an alt account and got it to the same rank as my main with some absurd win rate in the hopes that tilting on a loss I can just swap accounts and it'll feel like a fresh start. I just got it up to main rank so I'm hoping that works as long as I don't take the alt to seriously. But this isn't really a long term solution, happens in other games too. If anyone has any advice I'd be happy to hear it.

ESL DreamHack SC2 Masters Summer 2020 Week 1, Day 2 match thread

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 08:40 AM PDT

Welcome to the second day of the first week of the DreamHack SC2 Masters Summer 2020 tournament!

This thread will act as the thread for all of the regional tournaments to be played today, as they will follow each other very rapidly and I'll be damned if I make four separate threads for these, I want to watch stuff too :D

To keep things actually readable and not intimidate anyone with massive walls of text, I won't have scoreboards in this case as, again, all our regionals will be on this same post, so we'd be looking at a lot of tables (especially with the EU tournament which has four huge groups). I recommend checking out the live updated scoreboards on Liquipedia.
