Starcraft Co-Op Mutation #243: Spear of Your Doom

Co-Op Mutation #243: Spear of Your Doom

    Posted: 14 Dec 2020 10:00 AM PST

Phase-smiths under Amon's thrall have constructed a new arkship to rain destruction upon the Dark God's foes from orbit. Withstand the onslaught, and seize the locks.

    Map: Lock & Load

    Orbital Strike
Enemy Orbital Strikes are periodically fired throughout the map.
    Temporal Field
Enemy Temporal Fields are periodically deployed throughout the map.
    Purifier Beam
An enemy Purifier Beam moves across the map toward nearby player units.

    Rating: Brutal +1

    Video Replays on Brutal:

    Player 1                                   Player 2
    [CtG(Best Buddy Stetmann)]
    [CtG(Merchant of Death Arcturus)]
    [CtG(Arkship Commandant Artanis)]
[CtG(Folly of Man Kerrigan)] Galle (Hierarch of the Daelaam Artanis)

    Notes:

    • The Purifier Beam is permanent for Amon, and spawns at the start of the map. It slowly chases your units, and also [your static defense on the locks].
    • Amon has [A LOT] of Orbital Strikes.
    • A new Purifier Beam spawns on Brutal at 10:30, and it attacks your expansion if you put buildings out too far.
    • Time stop will cause the enemy to start sending units to the locks non-stop. Do NOT use time stop unless you want to make life harder, or if you're capturing the last lock.
    • Mind control does NOT work on Purifier Beams.
    • Artanis' Guardian Shell in particular saved my Marines from the Orbital Strikes. He would be a great ally for Raynor or Kerrigan.
    • Vorazun's Dark Pylon recall does not work on units trapped in Temporal Fields.
    • If Zagara's units can kill the lock defenders fast enough, the Orbital Strikes/Purifier Beam will not be much of a problem. The Temporal Fields may prevent that though.
    • As is with normal Lock & Load, the enemy will not begin capturing a lock until you have zero units on the lock. When you're on the verge of capturing the last lock, and your defenses on a particular lock have failed, you can just throw 1 unit to the lock to delay the enemy from capturing it. Overlords, Speedlings, Warp-ins, Drop pods, even MULEs may help with this, if only to delay the enemy by a few seconds.

ChickenmanSC is the only one casting the ESL weekly in English tonight. Can we show him some love?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2020 07:27 PM PST

PiG is on vacation this week, and Chickenman is the only one casting the weekly in English tonight. He's a bit of a smaller streamer, and I like to cheer for the smaller streamers. He always seems like a great guy and is the one carrying the torch tonight when no one else stepped up. Wishing him the best.

    With Warchests now gone

    Posted: 14 Dec 2020 01:54 PM PST

With Warchests now gone, how amazing would it be to have an alternative crowd funding for Iem prize pools. The first thing that came to mind was posters. I think a a lot of people would pay for small Katowice SC2 poster, with proceeds going to Esl and SC2 esports. There could even be tiers to have your favourite player(s) autograph it for an additional fee. Sponsors could contribute and have their logos on the posters. What do you guys think? I think it would be really cool.

    Serral's winrates vs. top players

    Posted: 14 Dec 2020 12:27 PM PST

I was bored at work, so I decided to take a look at Serral's winrates against some of the top players. I used aligulac to look through his match history against each of the top 20 earners of all time. He had no history against Polt, MMA, or Mvp so I replaced them with Reynor, Showtime, and Trap. Here it is.

There were a few interesting points. Serral only has a losing record against two of these players: MC and Byun. All his matches against MC were played in 2014, and the matches vs. Byun were in 2017 except for his recent loss in ASUS ROG Online. I expected Reynor to have a winning record as well, especially with his recent 4 match win streak against Serral. However, Serral was equally dominant in the beginning stages of their rivalry. I also thought his overall winrates would be higher than 61% and 69% for maps and matches respectively.

Edit: I included everything for maps, but disregarded any BO1s for matches.
