Clem wins 4/2 against Reynor in the grand finals after beating Serral 3 to 1 in the lower bracket finals !

It seems like the prophecy was right, and Clem won his first premier tournament in 2020 !

Let's discuss the power dynamic between Serral, Reynor and Clem. What are your expectations for the future?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 10:45 PM PST

I really love the matches between the three. Of course there are still favourites in their matches but they have shown that they can very much beat each other. All of them show very fun and unique styles. I'm sure the matchups between them will continue to evolve and stay interesting.

How do you see their current matchups and qualities? What are areas that they still can improve? What do you expect from them in tournaments next year? I would love to hear your opinions.

For me Serral is still the best player just because he played top tier starcraft for such a long time. While he is beatable and not flawless he shows amazing skill in most categories. He is somewhat a jack of all trades. Not many players can keep up with his macro and he uses a very wide set of strategies. Im sure he is always improving and will win the big tournaments again. It's hard for me to judge if Serral is tilting sometimes when he falls behind in series or if his visible unhappiness motivates him to improve further.

Reynor looked the strongest in the last months and beat everyone in Europe consistently. The question is if he can keep up this level of play in the future and continue to improve. I feel like he sometimes puts too much risk into all ins and timing attacks that work against nearly everyone but can often be defended by top level players like Serral. He is my favourite player of the three and I love his interviews (but I like Serral and Clem too). While Serral can be a bit moody Reynor is laughing even if he loses.

Clem showed that he can beat both Reynor and Serral but didn't have the same consistency as them. I think he has the potential to become one of the greatest Terrans if he continues to improve at this pace. His relentless pressure and aggression make him a very hard enemy to face.

    Cure's TvZ breakthrough going underappreciated...

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 03:12 PM PST

During King of Battle's, Cure broke through in a big way beat defeating Reynor BO3 then in a BO5, and then beating Serral 3-0 in a BO5. During those series he showcased a new style against zerg featuring a heavy emphasis on frequent and relentless widow mine drops on the zerg mineral lines. Since then I have seen several Terran's use this style to good success both in the GSL and now in ESL (e.g. Clem).

What I find disappointing is how little the community and casters have acknowledged this. The only attention I saw it get on StarCraft reddit was a very nice Youtube video by Uthermal that got shared here.

I believe that Cure's style has really thrown a wrench into the Zerg dominance and that even Serral and Reynor have yet to figure out how to deal with it consistently. I am just hoping to bring some more attention to Cure and emphasize the impact he has had on the state of TvZ. If you have not watched his matches from King of Battles, you should definitely go back and check it out (also see Uthermals' video on the topic).

    How do Zergs consume creeps?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 10:57 PM PST

    I imagine like this:

    • A razor-sharp mouth: They take a huge bite out of the biggest lump of creep they can find, just like we eat steak, or use their spine-coated tongue (I assume) to LICK, like the big cats.

    • Feeding tendrils: They extend those tendrils down to SLURP up the juicy and nutritious creeps. These tendrils are located in the belly, feets and mouth. Mostly found in zerg buildings (I think zerg structures are massive immobile zergs).

    Co-Op Mutation #238: Time Lock

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 02:14 AM PST

Time is not on your side. Amon's forces are moving fast, and the battlefield is full of treacherous challenges to slow you down. You'll need to act with both speed and caution in order to win.

    Map: Lock & Load

    Time Warp
Enemy Time Warps are periodically deployed throughout the map.
    Speed Freaks
Enemy units have double their normal movement speed.
    Mag-Nificent
Mag Mines are deployed throughout the map at the start of the mission.

    Rating: Brutal +2

    Video Replays on Brutal:

    Player 1                                   Player 2
[CtG(Infiltration Specialist Nova)] Arcturus (Apex Predator Zagara)
[CtG(Best Buddy Stetmann)] Espurr (Unconquered Spirit Fenix)
[CtG(Herald of the Void Zeratul)] Terribleness (Shadow of Death Alarak)
[CtG(Primal Pack Leader Dehaka)] Galle (Folly of Man Kerrigan)
[CtG(Malevolent Matriarch Kerrigan)] Aommaster (Spirit of Respite Vorazun)

    Notes:

    • This is the second repeat of Time Lock.
    • The Mag Mines cannot be attacked; but they trigger when a unit approaches them, and go in a straight line in the direction of the triggering unit. If they hit, they deal 250 damage in a mid-sized area.
    • Time Warp slows down ground and air units, and even building construction and production.
    • Running a few units first to trigger the Mag Mines in an enemy base will make it safer for the rest of your units.
    • Mag Mines do not respawn after detonation.
    • A big red circle appears on the ground where time warp will spawn.

Which pro player has the coolest nickname / title.

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 02:58 PM PST

What's your favourite pro player nickname or title? I really like nicknames that compliment the players personality or playstyle.

I like the respect towards Serral when he is called the GOAT. He really earned that with his career.

Showtime often gets called "die Mauer / the wall" highlighting his ability to defend and hold against the odds. Although it's not his only strategy he amazed me again and again with his resilience.

Scarlett being called the queen of blades is just badass and also seems to fit her.

Feel free to list other nicknames, I bet there are plenty ones that I don't know yet (especially of the Korean players).

    About Serral.

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 05:11 PM PST

Does anyone think that his sucess is a burden to him? He was the first(and will forever be the only) foreigner to win Blizzcon, if he lost there no one would hold it against him because dozens of hyped foreigners lost it too. It seems that after Blizzcon his sucess became a burden, he always tilts because he knows expectations for him became very high.

Do you guys think its tilt? Or did everyone catch up? For a guy who was labeled the ''Best Zerg ever'' and the ''Korean Killer'', not being able to defend a single EU title is huge...
