    The other night some guy BM'd me at the very start of the game for no apparent reason. After the game I hopped onto SC2replaystats to see if he always does this. He didn't, always, but he did a lot. But to the point of this post: in one game he played against some guy whose ID suggested that he was part of the same very small and easily-identifiable group that this guy had participated in, and they started chatting about it.

    The guy shared the name of the small town where he grew up, the state where he lived now, the years he was part of this organization, and other personal information that could be put to bad use by various Internet shitters.

    In-game chat isn't private between you, your opponent, and blizz. If you use SC2replaystats or play against someone who does, then the chatlogs go into that database. You have no way of knowing at the start of the game whether your opponent is using it or not. Probably no one will ever find it and if they do then probably nothing will happen, but, y'know.

    Alternative Proposal for Void Rays

    I've been a big fan of making the Void Ray a larger part of the Protoss arsenal for a while. Blizzard has made several attempts to make the unit more viable, but none of them have really brought the unit to the forefront. Its my opinion that the newest round of changes won't fix that, as it doesn't really address any of the units core problems.

    First, what I believe the current problems with the unit are:

    • It directly competes with the Immortal in the midgame as your primary anti armored unit, but its far flimsier while costing more.

    • Most midgame compositions are predominantly based around light units, especially in the AA department. Bio and most Zerg comps are light on good targets for Void Rays.

    Additionally, there are several things we have to avoid while buffing Voids:

    • The Void Ray / Shield Battery rush should ideally not become stronger.

    • Clumped Void Rays on A-Move should not be improved either.

    With those thoughts in mind, I propose an alternative route to take with Void Rays, instead trying to accentuating the difference between Prismatic Alignment and its normal mode. Here is what I have come up with: (aka, the part people actually care about)

    • Void Ray Speed nerfed from 3.5 to 3.2

    • Flux Vane speed is now 4.0. (25% buff) Flux Vanes now removes the speed debuff when changing modes. (see below)

    • Void Ray armor increased from 0 to 2.

    • Void Ray weapon changed from 6+4 Armored to a flat 8.

    • When activated, Prismatic alignment reduces the base armor of the Void Ray by 2.

    • Prismatic Alignment no longer slows Void Rays while active.

    • Prismatic Alignment weapon damage changed from 6 + 10 Armored to 4 + 12 Armored.

    • Prismatic Alignment is now a flat switch, you may have either mode locked in permanently. However, there is a 1.5 second transform time added where the unit cannot fire and moves 25% slower, and a 5 second delay before you can swap again.

    Gameplay Considerations:

    The goal here is to trade speed for flexibility. Its is now stronger vs non-armored units, but it has to be setup properly for it to succeed, and can rapidly find itself unable to escape or change modes if its baited into swapping into the wrong version.

    Shield Battery Rush vs Terran: Most likely this will be the most contested area for sets of changes. The rush is frustrating to fight, and Voids just got 2 armor. My changes are primarily aimed at the slower speed making it vulnerable for longer while leaving the Shield Batteries, (especially to Cyclones) and cooldown between modes giving Marines the option to fight in or out of the bunker depending on what mode they chose.

    Clumping Voids. I've don't believe these changes will make the 200/200 Void Ray stack any stronger in team games. Their maximum DPS vs Armored is the same, while their normal mode is weaker vs Armored units. Their ability to zip around the map has also been diminished.

    Obviously none of these numbers are set in stone, and I'm more than willing to hear ideas about moving stats around between the two modes. (maybe one mode gives speed while the other gives armor, or flux vanes could give a temp speed boost after changing modes rather than a flat movespeed buff, etc)

    Does SC2 Protoss really play similar to SC1 Terran?

    Hey guys. I created the original topic in r/starcraft2, and was recommended to post here for additional exposure. Here's my question.

    Hey guys. I was randomly reading about progamer Classic here:https://liquipedia.net/starcraft2/Classic_(Kim_Doh_Woo))

    This line in the Trivia section caught my attention:

    "Switched race from Terran to Protoss after a losing streak in the beginning of 2012-2013 Proleague, considering the play style of Protoss in StarCraft II more like Terran in StarCraft: Brood War."

    Is that real? I'm quite experienced in SC1, but still new to SC2. Back in Brood War I was good with Terran bio (TvZ), but I could not control Terran mech in TvP and TvT, so I mained Protoss.

    Now fast forward to SC2, I automatically mained Protoss, assuming it'd play similar to its BW counterpart.

    But this section caught my attention. Can anyone explain whether it is accurate, or if I just misunderstood it?
