    Apollo and Kaelaris 2020!

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 12:04 PM PST

Can we get these two to cast a series at Katowice together?! I can say that it would be in honor of the 10 year anniversary or ESL taking the reigns, but that would be disingenuous. I just really think it would be a treat for these two to be back together on commentary.

These two were great together and are a huge part of the scene. Obviously they have taken on different roles, but....come on. 1 series. Just 1. Come on. Please? 1 serieeeees?

Starcraft lore: why nukes don't seem so powerful, it because everything is so sturdy that nukes don't damage them unless they are in the immediate vicinity of the fireball.

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 01:26 PM PST

Gameplay only reflects certain aspects of lore, but dosen't imitate it. For example No, battlecruisers don't take 67 seconds to build, but terran production capacity is insane and they can pump out one in a month. Marine rifles can be used to kill aircraft like a 25mm cannon, but aren't gunning down BCs

The destructive power of a nuke is really only put into full context when we imagine nukes hitting cities, unprotected civillians, civilian buildings, But against proper military, and futuristic military contexts, the effects of a nuke are really reduced.

In the 50s, there was an investigation into building tanks that could survive nuclear detonations from a reasonable distance. A nuke, at a distance, is like a huge High-explosive shell or bomb. There is a lot of energy, but it is bad against proper armor. The force is dispersed and doesn't have much penetrative power.

The only source of actual damage is if the energy is able to straight-up vapourize the armor, or the blast wave tosses and kills the pilot

In starcraft, the standard marine is in power armor, NBC. Radiation sealed everything. Terran structures are meant to colonize lava planets, atmospheres exo planets, they are NBC sealed and pressurized, and have heavy armor

Lets take a 350 Kiloton Minuteman-3 warhead surface detonation. today, 35 times as powerful as the one on hiroshima. (used nukemap)

+++post-explosion Radiation and fallout is a complete non-factor, every piece of Terran tech is NBC protected, protoss have shields and zerg biology laughs at radiation+++

8.29 km radius: 1PSI overpressure broken windows, and light-blindness, a marine or SCV won't even be bothered This probably is considered "safe distance"

thermal radiation: 6.7 km radius. 3rd-degree burns of exposed human skin. Marine armor is close to an inch of steel+shock absorbers, a marine should easily survive this, virtually no damage to even INFANTRY. The only risk is a higher overpressure wave.

Moderate blast radius: 5 Psi 3.29 km: Most residential buildings collapse. But the thing is houses aren't exactly sturdy, huge surface area, A marine, lying prone or in a small ditch would be fine. Terran builds would not be fazed.

Ionizing radiation: 2.19km: this will probably not get through most terran structures. But could damage marines.

20 PSI blast radius: 1.53km: heavy concrete structures collapse, this is the benchmark for terran structures getting damaged

0.83km: the fireball. Most things are vapourized, but large structures like command centers, battlecruisers, can likely survive.

So a 350 kiloton weapon with an effective radius of around 8.29 kilometers is really reduced to only around 1-2 kilometers of a lethal radius

Hello, this is Golden, former zerg professional gamer, and currently, I'm a regular streamer on Twitch.

as I announced a week ago, I will play <Player> performance video, the theater play about progamer's life. It is played in Hyehwa, where we called broadway of South Korea, 4 times, in front of 400 audiences.

When I made some funding session, I was planning to share the performance video with the big donor only. but when I was making the subtitle of this video, suddenly I want to share it with the public. because you guys cheered us so hard, and I think small donors are worth to watch it as well. so I asked to big donors, and they said "YOU MUST DO THAT!"

so I will play it publicly, today 6PM PST(Western America time). I will play this only once, and won't leave the video. so please come my streaming if you want to watch it :) there will be English subtitle so you can understand it. I'm looking for show it to you! thank you for reading this thread.

Who was Tasteless' previous co-caster before Artosis?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 09:57 PM PST

I started watching Korean starcraft matches from gomtv in 2008. In one stream I remember that Tasteless asking the guy his name or nickname "what was your name again?". I thought that was Artosis until I saw sons of starcraft documentary. They knew each other since 2005 WCG.

At some point his Co caster was a Korean girl for sometime. He was mostly by himself but there was that guy.

PSA: How To Improve This Subreddit

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 07:50 AM PST

In light of the recent discussion within the community on meme rules, I'd like to make this little PSA on how we can all contribute to the improvement of this subreddit for everyone regardless of any rules about memery. So, without further ado:

    1. Upvote and comment. Upvoting and commenting on posts are the main mechanism by which our wonderful platform facilitates the rising (or not, as the case may be) visibility of posts. It is therefore imperative that we all upvote and comment on the sorts of posts that tickle us, to help drive their visibility and to incentivize others to post similar content in the future.
    2. Lead by posting. Not seeing whatever kind of posts you'd like more of? Post such stuff yourself! This way you're both signalling to other like minded redditors that they are not alone and that there is a demand for the kind of content you're pushing, potentially inspiring others to post similar content going forward.
    3. Sort by "NEW" (to make it hot in herrre). One of the main ways content drowns on this platform is by everybody sorting by "Hot". Let us not be those people. Sort by "New" by default or, at the very least, on a regular basis to see and enable yourself to promote the kind of content that you like to see and might be there but invisible to all those sorting by "Hot". If that content still isn't there, see 2)
    4. Tag your posts. This makes them easier to find for those that filter their feed one way or the other.
    5. Flood the zone with irrelevant no effort memes. Calm down, just courting controversy (see 1). Jeez.

This has been a PSA. Thank you for reading.

TL;DR: For the love of god, really? Just read the above, there's more text on a carton of milk FFS.

EDIT1: Added tagging posts because even I forget to do it.
