Posted: 04 May 2020 02:12 AM PDT So i was just searching through Youtube and ended up on Deepminds Youtube channel, they made a documentary about Alphago and some podcasts, the only Alphastar video's were made a year ago and they didn't show any progress after that. Also, what happened to Alphastar on the ladder, why is that not a thing anymore? Did Deepmind just stop working on Alphastar? Sorry if i made spelling mistakes, English isn't my first language. The battery buff is 1/3 as strong as advertised Posted: 03 May 2020 06:23 AM PDT A shield battery spawns with 100/100 energy, has a restoration rate of 3 shields/energy, and a max energy usage rate of ~16 energy/second. The version of the battery in the patch notes still has a restoration rate of 3 shields/energy, but now has a max energy usage rate of ~32 energy per second. Under full effectiveness an overcharged batter will restore 300 hp in ~3 seconds, instead of 300 hp in ~6 seconds, and then regen 100 energy over 21 seconds, giving it the ability to restore another 300 hp. Results from testing show that using an overcharged battery to heal a nexus still only heals 300 hp with its first 100 energy: https://i.imgur.com/M6fBi8C.png However, the Balance Update says: Effect: Overcharges a target Shield Battery, increasing its shield restoration rate by 100% and causing it to regenerate 100 energy over 21 seconds. Against typical two/three base aggression in PvP, we see this ability as a powerful form of defender's advantage, effectively quadrupling the effectiveness of a Shield Battery, allowing it to restore 1200 shields. For the battery buff to provide 900 extra shields instead of 300 extra shields, the restoration rate would have to jump from 3 shields/energy -> 6 shields/energy, instead of the energy usage rate jumping from 16 energy/second -> 32 energy/second. Starcraft Urban Legend, pros played a fake match, anyone know about it? Details in post Posted: 03 May 2020 08:26 AM PDT This was a story I think I heard on the pylon show awhile ago, and I cannot find which episode although I think it was Artosis who told it. Here is what I can remember:
These are the parts that I remember. However, is it true? Who were the players? Who won? What were the wider implications? I don't even know what to google or search in TL. So does anyone happen to know, or have any evidence of such a thing happening? [link] [comments]

I think there should be an option to attack-move-rally units Posted: 03 May 2020 01:31 PM PDT Depending on the situation, the current move-rally is sometimes a good thing, but sometimes a bad thing. For zerg, even when under pressure, you often want your lings/roaches/whatever to rally to a common point and group up before being issued an attack command. Four roaches or eight lings popping out of a hatch when there is a double medivac drop there are unlikely to do anything besides get rekt if not micro'd. Better to have them try to join the rest, with a majority perhaps surviving, and then attack together. Your production is pretty spread out and your units generally move pretty fast because of creep, so you're not going to like lose all your reinforcements. Conversely for terran, it's very common to have a naked third (no planetary) and you rely on units being rallied there to defend it, while most of your army is on the other side of the map being offensive. But if you are getting countered and the enemy is in your path you have this long line of units just getting chewed to bits while they try to crawl to the third. Terran units are generally pretty fragile so if you don't react instantaneously most of the stuff you were relying on for defense is just gone. Protoss is a little less concerned about this since you have warp-ins, but I think we've all had that situation where an immortal or a colossus is rallied across the map but would have stopped to defend the counter attack in an advantageous position instead of getting surrounded by lings right outside the wall. What I propose is separate buttons on the production building for attack-rally and move-rally. Or perhaps there could be some kind of toggle. But it's basically the same thing. It should also work for individual eggs and warp-ins too. And drones from the hatch I would think should be unaffected by it. Thoughts? EDIT: Wow, so stuck in the mud [link] [comments]
