    Hello /r/starcraft!

    Reminder: This is a weekly thread aimed at people who have questions about ANYTHING related to starcraft. Arcade, Co-OP, multiplayer, campaign, Brood War, lore, etc.

    Anyone of any level of skill can ask or answer a question Keep the comment section civil, and when you answer try not to answer with just a yes/no, add some thought into it, help each other out.

    If you ask a question about a specific game, it is helpful to include the replay of said game(upload to drop.sc and link it to your post.)

    No hate at all to No Regret, posting this because it was a hilarious moment. To be completely fair, I played like trash and threw my army away for no reason, so understandably he left the replay, right before my corruptors finish off the floating CC and drones kill remaining depots for the win in a base trade game.

    Moving pervert pillars to the third might increase build order variety. Would it break the game?

    This post is not strictly about balance. I'm mainly writing this as a spectator. This is about a map feature and the effect it has on the meta.

    It looks to me like the further it gets from a patch we see less and less build order variety against Zerg and I think those pillars have something to do with it. In the non Zerg matchups there's a lot to gain from build order variety because in the early game scouting is very limited and you can't be sure what's your opponents gas count, where your opponent's tech is, when does he move out etc. The information provided by Overlord pillars negates some of these ealy game dificiencies and pushes the meta in the direction where everyone does the most optimal build every time (as is best evidenced by adept printers) rather than mixing it up. There's not much value in mixing builds when at a high level it's almost impossible to surprise Zerg.

    I realize that dying to unscouted bs is the most frustrating thing no matter what race or matchup you play. But on the other hand I don't feel like the overlord pillars are so vital that without them Zerg just doesn't have any scouting tools left.

    I would love to hear your thoughts about this. Would it make some builds broken vs Zerg? Any ideas for buffs that could compensate for this change in map design? (after all the idea isn't to nerf Zerg just to promote build order variety).
