    Posted: 17 Aug 2020 05:04 PM PDT

    Hello!

We are The Corporate Esports Association-- an organization that puts together charitable tournaments for corporate teams, with the top three finishers in each game donating their prize purse to a charity of their choice. We're putting on a StarCraft 2 tourney for corporate players this fall, and registration is open now! It's a great way to meet and make friends with people at your company that you might not normally cross paths with, and to help out a charity that's near and dear to you as well!

Whether it's Google vs. Apple, GM vs. Tesla, or Walmart vs. Amazon, there are dozens of company rivalries playing themselves out here, and your company can be part of the next. You can find more info here -->https://cea.gg/collections/fall-2020-championship-series, or feel free to comment below with any questions or send us a message! You can also get in touch with us on our socials: https://twitter.com/CorporateEsport, https://www.facebook.com/corporateesports/, or at https://www.instagram.com/corporateesports/

We hope you'll consider competing as we continue to game for the greater good!

    Sincerely,

Why do people hate f2 so much?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2020 07:40 PM PDT

I understand it's never optimal but it's quite handy no? Like if you misbind some units when setting up multiple flanks and then have to respond to harass back at your own base you can f2 then quickly just drag those units you want for harass back to where you want and you lose like 2 seconds maximum? Why do people here act as if using f2 is like auto losing the game lol

Was LotV intended to put Starcraft to bed?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2020 01:47 PM PDT

No this isn't another "DED GAEM??" thread, SCII is not dead, I'm specifically wondering whether Blizzard intended for SCII to be the end of the series for good. Obviously it's subject to change in the event that the RTS genre makes a comeback (I mean they're far from above shameless retcons) but did they see that the popularity of RTS games has been declining since WoL and they aren't really as marketable on a mass scale as they were back in the day.

Now I know that nobody plays these games for the story, but when you look at the story for LotV it kind of suffers from Marvel syndrome in that you feel "so...where do we go from here? How do you raise the stakes now?" The ending to LotV, as well as massively jumping the shark in my opinion but I digress, kind of left the series at a very conclusive end point, which makes me wonder whether Blizzard were hoping that wrapping everything up in an annoyingly neat bow would end the series for good.

One of the only things that makes starcraft interesting outside of multiplayer gameplay is the concept of the Zerg, Terrans and Protoss in a perpetual conflict for control of the sector. The Zerg and Protoss being utterly irreconcilable opposite forces of nature and the Terrans being humans caught in the middle. Needless to say, SCII kinda changed that, radically, and ended with the three all being happy friends fighting a common enemy. That leaves the question of where exactly does the series go from here other than being a closed book.

Now there isn't really a need for a new Starcraft as things stand, the current engine works fine as an RTS and there's not much economic incentive for Blizzard to spend a lot of money on something new, but I really miss the sense of awe and spectacle I felt first playing WoL. I was too young to play the original SCI or Brood War during their heyday, but even I felt like it was a huge deal, and came into WoL when Starcraft was riding high on top of the world. LotV was fun to play of course but I could never shake the feeling that it was meant to be "the end" of Starcraft as a franchise.

No sequel to Starcraft II is to be expected for the foreseeable future as far as I know, but they seem to have finished of the story in a way that, unlike Brood War which sort of left on a cliffhanger in many ways, wrote the possibility of a sequel at any point out of the equation. Every arc was finished, the stakes could not be raised, the eschaton had come and gone. Does that mean that Blizzard intended to let starcraft as a whole just sort of end in its own time? Will we ever get to experience a phenomenon like WoL again?
