Starcraft Co-Op Mutation #197: Like Swatting Insects

Starcraft Co-Op Mutation #197: Like Swatting Insects

Co-Op Mutation #197: Like Swatting Insects

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 03:20 AM PST

It's a battle station for a reason. Moebius has activated their missile and biological defenses, as ballistic missiles and infested terran swarm your base from all directions. Let's hope the truck's charges will do the job.

    Map: Cradle of Death

    Alien Incubation
All enemy units spawn Broodlings upon death.
    Missile Command
Endless missile bombardments target your structures and must be shot down throughout the mission.
    Outbreak
Enemy Infested Terrans spawn continuously around the map.

    Video Replays on Brutal:

    Player 1                                   Player 2
    [CtG (Stukov)] Piky (Alarak)
    [CtG (Zeratul)] Piky (Artanis)
    [CtG (Swann)] Ancalagon (Vorazun)
    [CtG (Abathur)] Ancalagon (Dehaka)
    [CtG (Fenix)] Ancalagon (Nova)
    [CtG (Arcturus)] Ancalagon (Zagara)
    [CtG (Raynor)] [Hunter (Tychus)]
    [CtG (Stetmann)] [Hunter (Karax)]

    Notes:

    • Outbreak spawns Infested Terrans, Infested Medics, Infested Marines later, and later Aberrations from any enemy building.
    • Missiles spawn at the very start, [from the edges of the map]. They slowly fly to the players' bases.
    • Missiles [deal 100 damage] at first. However, the size increases, and eventually they launch nuke missiles toward players' bases. Those ones come with a warning sound.
    • We can shoot down the missiles [10 HP], but sometimes they launch [Point Defense Drones], so we need to shoot those down first. Also, we cannot stop them from spawning.
    • Broodlings spawn depending on the supply count of the unit killed.
    • Broodlings do not expire.

Let's talk about r/starcraft As posted by rifkin.

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 09:23 AM PST

EDIT: Love the downvote brigade showing up and downvoting seemingly every comment i've said. As well as any other posts that agree that mods may need some sort of self-reflection. /shrug

Under my own will, and with only the permission to copy and use his words, I post one of rifkin's recent tweet as I deem it relevant to the community as a whole. It can be found here via twitlonger

As a major community hub, directly linked from the official Blizzard website, it is my opinion that Reddit should not act to actively gate keep while simultaneously disparaging the existing community figureheads. The moderation team should not let their personal feelings influence their decision making, as currently the behaviour of some have resulted in years of destroying the desire any of us (content creators and users alike) being involved directly with the larger community as a whole. There's a reason there is so little traffic or activity on the subreddit, and it's not because folks like John posted a meme.

Okay, so why the post? Where's this coming from? This is a problem that is constantly being ignored by everybody. I'm guilty of it, other users are guilty of it, but when it's UNIVERSAL that everyone dislikes the way this is handled, but nobody will speak up on it, I think that's a very critical time to have a conversation about it, and that's my goal with listing what's happened to me.

What happened: I was banned from r/starcraft, but this post isn't about my ban, or me being unbanned.

Frankly, I definitely deserved some form of moderation, as I was purposely picking fights with another user who was witch hunting Nathanias at the time. My punishment was an initial message stating that I was temporarily or permanently banned(?) https://twitter.com/RealRifkin/status/1223265071280746496

It was followed up by multiple messages re-banning me, but for only 7 days (fixing the mistake made in the first ban (permanent vs temp)). A little confusing, but I guess that's fine, just wait it out. After waiting it out this was the reply I was given https://i.imgur.com/AiPaGz2.png

The problem is, however, it's not about me, a controversial figure, being removed, it's that it's been done without discussion, with piss poor communication, while happening to others too, such as when John was banned.

Folks like wardi share these thoughts too https://twitter.com/Wardixo/status/1223023555576844288

Zombiegrub's lighthearted take on things https://twitter.com/ZGGaming/status/1138612010235641858

This sub reddit has a reputation for being a cesspool that people would rather avoid, and I truly believe this stems directly from the culture of the current moderation team. I believe they are good people, with good intentions, that have unfortunately fallen into this bad behaviour set, but unless something changes with the mods for the better, the sub reddit will continue to suffer.

Is it just me? Or does StarCraft help others be "sharper" in day to day activities (School, work, etc.)

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 06:43 AM PST

I grew up with StarCraft during high school and looking back, I realized I had good grades during that period. Fast forward to present, where I got back into SC2 after 3+ year drought, I noticed I am able to be on my toes better at work and I come up with ideas more. Does anyone else have the same experience? Thanks

Free GM/M Coaching Sessions Anyone Can Join

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 09:13 AM PST

    Hi,

I am Bozhidar 'Wanderer' Ganchev, a Bulgarian low-mid GM Terran on EU server, Zerg-Protoss ~ 4.8k-5k MMR

I'll be giving away free coaching sessions1 to whoever wishes (45-50minutes each) while I'm streaming live on my twitch channel. - link

The format of the coaching sessions would be as follows:

    • Watching replays together;
    • Asking questions on improvement at sc2;
    • Playing Custom Games with similar ranked friend/player;
    • Playing a few ladder games, while I observe and give you tips during the matches. (In order for that to happen we can use discord's function to share screen).

If you are interested an easy way to contact me directly is through my discord channel: link

Anyone can apply2. The only thing that I'd love is for whomever wants coaching to prepare some Replays/Questions (most likely up to 3 games would be enough) and to click follow on my channel.

I am planning this to be my streaming sc2 activity until February 24th. The first stream would begin at around 30 minutes after this Reddit thread goes live. Ideally, I would like to do this daily3 ~4 hours each stream if there are enough volunteers. If no one shows up for coaching I would most likely watch some replays/ladder.

    Thank you,

    Kind Regards,

    a "Wanderer"

1 For anyone curious, I do have previous experience coaching variety of players from silver to masters.

2 They should have that inner thirst for improvement. (:

3 I don't have a fixed time schedule for the streams yet. If I come up with something I will post it on my discord and/or twitter. I recommend following me on twitch for when I go live as your best bet currently.

Oh mah god the forums are one massive chromosome leak

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 10:04 PM PST

Please, for the love of God PLEASE, read what you have written at least 3 times before posting something like "zerg larvae OP, SCV repair is OP, health of Pylons is op. Its my 3rd day on the forums and I have noticed that 99% of it are silvers and bronzes complaining about ridiculous things and not accepting any kind of thought and reason. They want Blizzard to orbit around their a$$ instead of actually improving at the game.

Returning to Starcraft II 4 years later, a complaint

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 09:57 PM PST

Don't me wrong, I still adore this game and this complaint is some what of a nit pick but: I miss when we occasionally had smaller more unique maps. How about 1 throw back map every season, I mean you can filter them out anyway right? I'm not asking for the absolute smallest like Steps of War, but damn do I miss some of the older maps! If the size was the issue, how about make the same map but slightly larger? All maps linked to TL's map page of the map.

Just some examples of ones I remember extremely fondly

The new maps are fun but are honestly about the same experience for me map to map, outside a few instances.

What do you guys think? Does Blizzard look at this subreddit?

    Looking for some guidance

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 09:48 PM PST

I'm a few weeks into SC2 and have been putting in the work trying to play the right way and get better as I go. It's been working pretty good but I'm at a point where it would be cool having someone to throw ideas at and get some help.

Shoutout to the mods of r/starcraft

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 09:48 PM PST

I usually find shoutout posts annoying as hell, but i really feel the community doesn't appreciate the mod team enough and give them praise they deserve. Ive been visiting this sub for whats going to be a decade soon and r/starcraft has always been my favorite place to discuss, laugh and whine about the game.

I personally never had any issue with the mods or the way that they moderated the sub, sure their might be some disagreements within the community on how things should be run, but the decisions taken by the mods were always with the intent of bettering the sub. More importantly, the mods have always been open, transparent and willing to take advice, they care as much about sc2 and the community as we do.

So, ty moderators of r/starcraft for all the handwork over the years and for maintaining my favorite sc2 hub.
